Abstract

The equipment consists of components to add water vapour to the air/fuel mixture in the air intake of an internal combustion engine. The vapour will break down into oxygen and hydrogen at the combustion temperature, thus releasing oxygen for more complete combustion. The water vapour is supplied in the mixture intake duct of the carburettor. The amount of vapour supplied depends on the throttle valve opening. The water is heated electrically and supplied as a vapour. An atomiser (6) ensures adequate mixing in the duct. An alternative detail is to supply the water through a float chamber and diffuser as in a conventional carburettor.
