Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve combustion and heighten an output, by changing a portion of intake air into highly-oxidizing OH radicals through a steam generator and a discharge unit.
CONSTITUTION: A throttle valve 8 and a fuel injection valve 10 are installed in an intake passage 2 which communicates with a combustion chamber 15. A detour passage 7 having a regulation valve 11 communicates with the intake passage 2 upstream to the throttle valve 8 but downstream to the injection valve 10 to bypass a portion of intake air. The detour passage 7 is equipped with a steam generator 5 and a discharge unit 6 to mix the air with moisture and subject so-prepared mixture to an electric discharge treatment, thereby to change the mixture into highly-oxidizing OH radicals. The radicals are introduced together with fuel into the combustion chamber 15.
