Abstract
1527130 Hydrogen-fuelled IC engines BILLINGS ENERGY RESEARCH CORP 30 Dec 1975 53141/75 Heading F1B Hydrogen and water are introduced into the air intake at mass ratios of 2:1 or greater to inhibit backfiring. The hydrogen may be introduced by a gas carburetter 15 and the water by a carburetter 20 having a float chamber (50), Fig. 2 (not shown), a Venturi (57) and a throttle valve (61). The gas carburetter may be downstream of the water carburetter. Hydrogen or water may be introduced by a carburetter, the other fluid being introduced by an injector, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), or both may be injected into the air, Fig. 5 (not shown). The water may be provided by an exhaust condenser 30 having a reservoir 35 connected by a pump 22 to the carburetter 20. The carburetter, pump and reservoir have drain valves 40, 42, 45 which are open below a predetermined ambient temperature, e.g. 35‹F.
