Abstract
833,952. Carburetters. SOLEX. March 31, 1958 [April 23, 1957], No. 10300/58. Class 7(3) The upper portion of the float chamber 8 is in communication according to operating conditions particularly according to the speed of the engine either with the main air intake 6 downstream of the air filter 7 or with the atmosphere and when the float chamber is brought into communication with the atmosphere the main air intake is simultaneously brought into direct communication with the atmosphere by-passing the air filter. Thus as shown when the throttle valve 2 leaves its normal idling position for any position up to fully open position the finger 53 leaves the end 51a of the rod 51 at least after a slight displacement of the throttle valve. The spring 49 then becomes preponderant and applies the cover 45 against its seating 46. In a modification the strength of the current supplied by a dynamo of the engine is employed to regulate the position of the cover. The float chamber and the main air intake may be brought simultaneously into communication with the atmosphere by means of the reduced pressure prevailing at a given point in the induction passage (for example at the throat of the Venturi 5) or by the variation in the pressures prevailing in the chamber 8 and in the air intake 6 relative to the atmosphere pressure. The idling starting and accelerating devices are not shown.
