Abstract
The fuel consumption of an internal combustion engine can be reduced by fitting a second throttle valve between the existing throttle and the carburettor. This second throttle valve is controlled by the depression in the inlet manifold so that the degree of opening of the valve is a function of the depression. The valve is connected to a control vane which is subjected to the action of a manometric device. It is also connected to a return spring with a screw to adjust the spring tension. Adjustable stops are provided which limit the movement of the valve in either direction.
