Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf Cyanin-Farbstoffe, welche als Sensibilisierungsmittel für photographische
Silberhalogenidemulsionen von Wert sind. Gemäß der Erfindung wird eine neue Klasse von
Cyanin-Farbstoffen der allgemeinen Formel

geschaffen, in der R1 und R3 Alkyl-, Aralkyl- und Arylgruppen
darstellen und R4 und R5 Alkyl-, Aralkyl-,
Aryl-, Alkoxy- oder Anilidogruppen bedeuten, die zusammen weniger als 12 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten,
D1 den Rest eines Thiazol-, Selenazol- oder entsprechendenBenz-oderNaphththiazol-
oder-selenazolringesund so D2 den Rest eines Thiazol-, Selenazol-, Oxazol- oder
entsprechenden Benz- oder Naphththiazol-, -selenazol- oder -oxazolringes darstellt. Diese Farbstoffe und
insbesondere solche, in denen D1 und D2 die Reste von
Benzthiazolkernen sind, R1 und R3 niedrige Alkylgruppen
bedeuten, die bis zu 4 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten, und R4 und R5 aus Methyl-, Äthyl-, Methoxy-,
Phenyl- und Carboxylestergruppen ausgewählt sind, sind wertvolle Sensibilisierungsmittel für photographische
Silberhalogenidemulsionen und . erteilen
ζ. B. Silberjodbromidemulsionen eine hohe Empfindlichkeit in den grünen und roten Bereichen des
Spektrums.
Gemäß der Erfindung werden die genannten Cyanin-Farbstoffe durch Umsetzung eines Cyanin-Farbstoffes
der Formel

in der R2 eine Alkyl-, Aralkyl- oder Arylgruppe darstellt
und die anderen Symbole die oben angegebenen Bedeutungen besitzen, mit einer /?-Dicarbonyl-Verbindung
der Formel R4COCH2COR5, in der R4 und
R5 die oben angegebenen Bedeutungen haben, hergestellt,
und zwar wird die Reaktion durch Erhitzen der genannten Komponenten in Gegenwart einer Base
durchgeführt. Die Herstellung der Ausgangsverbindung der angegebenen allgemeinen Zusammensetzung
ist in der USA.-Patentschrift 2 397 013 beschrieben. Obwohl die Reaktion auch mit schwächer alkalisch
wirkenden Mitteln, wie Pyridin, Natriumacetat oder Kaliumcarbonat, durchgeführt werden kann, werden,
wie gefunden wurde, die besten Ausbeuten erhalten, wenn die verwendete Base verhältnismäßig stark ist,
wie es z. B. bei Natriumäthylat und Triäthylamin der Fall ist.
Mit Bezug auf die in den vorstehenden Formeln genannten Symbole ist zu berücksichtigen, daß, wenn von
Alkylgruppen gesprochen wird, diese z. B. aus Methyl-,. Äthyl-, Propyl-, Butyl- oder höheren Alkylgruppen
bestehen können; wenn es sich um Aralkylgruppen handelt, so könne diese z. B. Benzyl- oder Naphthylmethylgruppen
sein, und wenn es sich um Arylgruppen handelt, können diese z, B. aus Phenyl- oder Naphthylgruppen
bestehen. Alkoxygruppen können von irgendeiner der vorgenannten Alkylgruppen abgeleitet sein,
und Aminogruppen können substituiert sein; z. B. kann die ß-Dicarbonyl-Verbindung aus Acetoacetanilid
bestehen.
Die Reste D1 und D2 können, wenn sie Benz- oder
Naphthalinringsysteme tragen,- in den carboxyclischen
Ringen mit einer oder mehreren Gruppen, wie Alkyl-, Aryl-, Amino-, Oxy-, Alkoxy- und Methylendioxygruppen,
oder durch Halogenatome substituiert sein.
Die Erfindung wird nachstehend an Hand einiger
Beispiele näher erläutert.
3-Äthyl-3'-methyl-9-(diacetyhnethyl)-thiacarbocyaninjodid
Verfahren A. 0,25 g s-Äthyl^'-methyl-g-äthylthiothiacarbocyaninjodid
wurden mit 2,5 ecm Acetylaceton und 0,24 ecm Triäthylamin gemischt. Die
Mischung wurde 16 Stunden lang auf dem Wasserbad erhitzt und mit Äther verdünnt, und der gefällte Farbstoff
wurde abfiltriert und mit Äther ausgewaschen. Der Farbstoff wurde aus 40 ecm Äthylalkohol auskristallisiert
und in Form von grünen Plättchen, Schmelzpunkt 2800 (Zersetzung), erhalten.
Verfahren B. 0,2 g 3-Äthyl-3'-methyl-9-äthylthiothiacarbocyaninjodid
wurden mit 2 ecm Acetylaceton und einer Lösung von 0,0087 g Natrium in 0,4 ecm
Methylalkohol gemischt. Nach iostündigem Erhitzen auf dem Wasserbad wurde eine Lösung von zusätzlichen
0,1 g Natrium in 2 ecm Methylalkohol zugesetzt und das Erhitzen während weiterer I1Z2 Stunden fortgesetzt.
Die Lösung wurde mit Äther verdünnt und der Niederschlag abfiltriert, Schmelzpunkt 2800 (Zersetzung).
Wenn dieser Farbstoff in eine Silberjodbromidemulsion eingebracht wurde, wurde die Empfindlichkeit
auf 6500 Ä mit einem Maximum bei 6200 Ä ausgedehnt.
Beispiele 2 bis 20
Durch Reaktion in Gegenwart von Triäthylamin wurden nach der im Beispiel 1, Verfahren A, beschriebenen
Weise die folgenden Farbstoffe unter Verwendung der in den Spalten 3 und 4 der nachstehenden
Tabelle angegebenen Reaktionskomponenten hergestellt. In dieser Tabelle bedeuten die Buchstaben
(a), (b) usw. folgende Reaktionskomponenten:
(a) s-Äthyl-s'-methyl-g-äthylthiothiacarbocyaninjodid,
(b) 3, s'-Diäthyl-g-äthylthiothiacarbocyaninjodid,
(c) 3. 3'-Dimethyl-9-methylthiothiacarbocyaninjodid,
(d) 3> 3' ~ Dimethyl - 9 - äthylthiothiacarbocyaninbromid,
(e) 3, s'-Dimethyl-S-chlor-g-äthylthiothiacarbocyaninjodid,
(f) 3"Äthyl-3 '-methyl-g-phenylthiothiacarbocyaninjodid,
(g) 3-Äthyl-3'-methyl-4', 5'-benz-9-äthylthiothiacarbocyaninbromid,
(n) 3. s'-Diäthyl-S-methyl-g-äthylthiothiacarbocyäninjodid,

entwickelt), abgekühlt und mit Äther verdünnt. Das Rohprodukt wurde in Form von grünen Plättchen,
Schmelzpunkt 278° (Zersetzung), erhalten.
Wenn dieser Farbstoff einer Silber] odbromidemulsion
einverleibt wurde, wurde die Empfindlichkeit bis 6450 Ä mit Maxima bei 5400, 5800 und 6100 Ä ausgedehnt.
Claims (3)
- PATENTANSPRÜCHE:i. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Cyanin-Farbstoffen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß ein Cyanin-Farbstoff von der FormelC = CH — C = CH-.C== Nor T> "D "V·**> ix.-* ■ JK.3 J\.in der R1, R2 und R3 Alkyl-, Aralkyl- und Arylgruppen bedeuten, D1 den Rest eines Thiazol-, Selenazol- oder entsprechenden Benz- oder Naphththiazol- oder selenazolringes und D2 den Rest eines Thiazol-, Selenazol-, Oxazol- oder entsprechenden Benz- oder Naphththiazol-, Selenazol- oder -oxazolringes darstellt, mit einer ß-Dicarbonyl-Verbindung der.Formel R4COCH2COR6 umgesetzt wird, in der R4 und R5 Alkyl-, Aralkyl-, Aryl-, Alkoxy- oder Anilidogruppen bedeuten und zusammen weniger als 12 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten, wobei die Reaktion durch Erhitzen der genannten Verbindungen in Gegenwart einer Base ausgeführt wird.
- 2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß Verbindungen verwendet werden, in denen D1 und D2 die Reste von Benzthiazolkernen, R1 und R3 niedrige Alkylgruppen mit bis zu 4 Kohlenstoffatomen und R4 und R5 Methyl-, Äthyl-, Methoxy-, Phenyl- und Carboxylestergruppen sind.
- 3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß als Base Natriumäthylat oder Triäthylamin verwendet wird.© 509 658/208 2.56
