Abstract
Περιγράφονται μέθοδοι για την παραγωγή ινσουλίνης σε φυτά. Σε μία υλοποίηση, η παρούσα εφεύρεση παρέχει μέθοδο για την έκφραση ινσουλίνης σε φυτά που περιλαμβάνει: (a) παροχή χιμαιρικού κατασκευάσματος νουκλεϊκού οξέος που περιλαμβάνει με φορά μεταγραφής 5' προς 3' ως λειτουργικά συνδεδεμένα συστατικά: (i) αλληλουχία νουκλεϊκού οξέος ικανή να ελέγχει την έκφραση σε κύτταρα σπόρων φυτών, και (ii) αλληλουχία νουκλεϊκού οξέος που κωδικοποιεί πολυπεπτίδιο ινσουλίνης, (b) εισαγωγή του χιμαιρικού κατασκευάσματος νουκλεϊκού οξέος σε φυτικό κύτταρο, και (c) αύξηση του φυτικού κυττάρου σε ώριμο φυτό ικανό να παράγει σπόρους όπου οι σπόροι εκφράζουν ινσουλίνη.
