Abstract

技术领域
本发明大体上涉及电连接器领域,更具体地,涉及一种用于连接绝缘导线和例如印刷电路板(PCB)等组件的连接器。
背景技术
用来形成绝缘导线和任何方式的电子组件之间连接的不同类型的连接器在本领域是已知的。这些连接器通常用作插座、插头以及大范围的尺寸、间距中的屏蔽头部和电镀附件。许多这种常规的连接器被称作绝缘位移连接器(IDC),因为它们包括一个或多个含有一组刀片或夹片的接触元件,该刀片或夹片在单一步骤中穿过导线周围的绝缘材料并与导电芯部形成电接触,因此消除了对于导线剥离和卷曲或者其它导线制备的需求。IDC广泛地用在通信工业中,并且更普遍地用在印刷电路板(PCB)应用中。
已经进行了不同的尝试来构造用于表面安装技术(SMT)应用的IDC。例如,美国专利No.7,320,616描述了一种特别用于SMT安装到PCB的IDC。该连接器组件具有至少一个接触部件,其具有可滑动地设置在主体中的穿入、切入或切片端,以及从所述主体延伸并使用常规的SMT工艺连接到印刷电路板的安装端。例如导线、电缆和/或线缆等绝缘导体插入主体中的通道内,而没有被接触部件的穿入端穿透。当使用者在主体的顶部上向下推时,接触部件滑入通道中并穿过绝缘导体。主体的顶部还提供在自动拾取与放置装配步骤中用于真空拾取喷嘴的表面。
美国南卡罗莱纳州的AVX公司提供了一系列低矮轮廓的IDC线对板连接器(系列9175-9177),该连接器在导线插入接触狭槽之前借助手动工具SMT(表面安装技术)安装到电路板。该步骤切断导线绝缘,并允许导线芯部与连接器形成稳固的导电接合。
但是,IDC线对板连接器并不适用于需要将一根或多根导线连接到组件的所有应用。例如,上述引用文献中的IDC是比较复杂的,因为它们需要彼此相对移动的多个部件。主绝缘体是与接触部件分离的组件,并且主体的全部或部分必须相对于接触部件可移动或可滑动,以在接触部件的端部已经插入PCB上的通孔或者表面安装到PCB之后与导线形成最终的连接。常规IDC的主绝缘体还可能占据PCB上的宝贵空间(成品电路板,realestate)。在这点上,IDC在一些应用中比较复杂、尺寸大并且成本高。
本发明提供了IDC线对板连接器的替换选择,其稳固、可靠并且设计简洁。
发明内容
本发明的目的和优点将在下面的描述中部分详尽地解释,或者通过描述可以明白,或者通过本发明的实践可以了解。
根据本发明的一些方面,提供一种电连接器,其特别适用于将至少一根绝缘导电芯线连接到例如PCB等电子组件。应该理解,根据本发明的连接器并不限用于电路板,还可用于需要导线和任何其它类型的组件之间可靠电连接的任何应用中。仅用作示意目的,该连接器在这里将描述为用于将导线连接到PCB。
根据本发明的一些方面,该连接器为“单一元件”连接器,因为该连接器由单一导电接触部件形成,并且不包括绝缘本体或模塑。该连接器特别适用于拾取和放置安装工艺,其中,真空输送装置放置用于随后表面安装到PCB的连接器,这对于本领域技术人员来说是可以理解的。然而,该连接器并不限用于这种安装技术。

在特定实施例中,所述连接器由单个压制金属板形成,所述金属板弯曲或通过其它方式形成所述笼形结构。任何数目和结构的切口、缺口(relief)或其它结构可形成在金属板上,以便于通过弯曲或其它方式使所述金属板形成具有这里描述的特征的笼形结构。
如上所述,在特定实施例中,所述笼形结构包括弯曲成盒状结构的多个壁,所述盒状结构在所述连接器的插入端具有顶壁、底壁和侧壁,所述顶壁限定拾取表面。在本实施例中,所述顶壁可以是一个侧壁的弯曲延伸部,所述弯曲延伸部延伸到相对的侧壁。
在一个实施例中,所述顶壁和所述底壁可以大致平行,所述顶壁和所述底壁中的一个或两个包括前部,所述前部朝着所述连接器的中心轴线倾斜,以限定上导线引导部(顶壁)和/或下导线引导部(底壁)。

图1到图8示出了根据本发明的一些方面的电连接器10的示例性实施例。电连接器10被构造用于将绝缘导线的导电芯部连接到各种各样的电子组件,例如印刷电路板(PCB)。为了便于解释和说明,这里在将导线连接到PCB的情况下来说明并参考连接器10。另外,连接器10在图中图示为“单路”连接器,因为它仅包括一个导线位置。应该理解的是,连接器10并不受限于导线位置的数目,在本发明的范围和精神内可设想多路结构的实施例。例如,除了所示的单路连接器,本发明还包括笼形结构被形成为双路或三路连接器的实施例。
大体参照附图,描述了根据本发明的一些方面的单一元件电连接器10的实施例。连接器10特别适用于将导线12连接到各种各样的电子组件,例如PCB。导线12可以是多芯的或实心的导线,具有由绝缘材料16围绕的芯部14。在导线12插入连接器10之前,绝缘材料16的一部分从导线12的末端附近的芯部14剥离,如图1和2中具体图示。
如上所述,连接器10是“单一元件”连接器,因为它由单个导电接触元件18形成。该元件18可以是任意适当的导电金属材料,其具有适于在安装过程中以及在安装有连接器10的电子组件的操作环境中维持连接器10的形状的规格(gauge)和其它物理特性。
单个导电元件18形成大体如图1中元件20所示的笼形结构。笼形结构20包括导线插入端22,该导线插入端22限定了用于将导电芯线12插入连接器10中的插入开口18。笼形结构20还限定了导线接触端24(图1),在笼形结构的这一端上,导线12的裸露的导电芯部14由接触元件18接触。插入端22和导线接触端24沿着连接器10的中间纵向轴线26对齐,如图1和图2中所示。

连接器10包括接触表面38,该接触表面38可由笼形结构20的任意部分或任意段形成。接触表面38用于电配合接触电子组件上的各个接触元件。例如,接触表面38可由笼形结构20的底部或底壁的任意部分形成,其接合PCB上的相应的接触焊盘,其中连接器10可直接表面安装到PCB的接触焊盘上。
在图示的实施例中,连接器10,特别是接触元件18,由单个金属板材料形成,该金属板材料通过弯曲或其它方式形成笼形结构20。在单个接触元件18上可切除或压制任意方式的切口、缺口或其它结构,以便于将接触元件18形成这里描述的连接器10的整体结构。
在所述实施例中,壁结构30包括多个壁,这些壁被弯曲成具有顶壁42、底壁44和相对的侧壁46的盒状结构40。顶壁42限定如上所述的拾取表面32。应该理解任一个其它壁也可限定拾取表面32。盒状结构40还可通过不同的方式由壁限定。例如,在所示实施例中,侧壁46是相对于底壁44向上弯曲的组件,而顶壁42由一个侧壁46的延伸部形成,该延伸部朝着相对的侧壁46弯曲。
连接器10的某些实施例还可包括在笼形结构20中的引导表面,该引导表面用来物理地接触和对齐笼形结构20中的导线12。在图示实施例中,例如,上导线引导部48由顶壁42的倾斜部限定。该上导线引导部48从大致平行的顶壁(平行于底壁44)朝着中心轴线26倾斜,如图2和图3中具体图示。相似地,平行于顶壁42的底壁44可具有前部,该前部朝着中心轴线26倾斜,以限定下导线引导部50,如图2、6和图7中具体图示。

如所述,接触表面38可由底壁44(或任意其它壁)的任意部分形成,其对齐PCB上的配合接触焊盘。在本实施例中,连接器10特别适用于常规的表面安装工艺。
在图8所示的替换实施例中,连接器10可被构造用于通板连接,其中连接器延伸穿过PCB上的孔。接触足部56用来对接PCB上的通孔任一侧上的接触焊盘。相似地,接触足部56可用于连接器10在PCB上的表面安装,其中连接器10相对于PCB呈现相对竖直(即,垂直)定向。在图8中所示的实施例中,接触足部56由每个侧壁46的向外弯曲部分形成。在替换实施例中,接触足部56还可由底壁44和顶壁42的向外弯曲部分形成。

Claims (13)
1.单一元件电连接器,其被构造用于将导线连接到组件,其特征在于,所述连接器包括:
单一导电接触元件,其形成笼形结构,所述笼形结构具有沿所述连接器的纵向中心轴线的导线插入端和导线接触端;
所述笼形结构包括在限定导线用插入开口的所述插入端的壁结构,所述壁结构限定具有适于放置真空输送装置的吸入喷嘴的表面区域的上部拾取表面;
所述笼形结构还包括一对接触尖端,所述接触尖端沿着所述导线到所述连接器的插入方向在所述壁结构的下游朝着所述中心轴线偏置,所述接触尖端限定用于所述导线的裸露的芯部的接触夹点;以及
接触表面,其由所述笼形结构的部分限定,用于电配合接触在所述组件上的各个接触元件。
2.根据权利要求1所述的单一元件电连接器,其特征在于,所述连接器由单个压制金属板形成,所述金属板弯曲成所述笼形结构。

8.根据权利要求7所述的单一元件电连接器,其特征在于,还包括从所述接触尖端的最前部延伸的释放突片,所述释放突片被构造用来通过工具接合,以分开所述接触尖端来移除插入所述连接器中的导线。
9.根据权利要求8所述的单一元件电连接器,其特征在于,所述释放突片大致平行于所述中心轴线延伸。
10.根据权利要求3所述的单一元件电连接器,其特征在于,所述笼形结构还包括沿着导线到所述连接器的插入方向在所述接触尖端的前方形成的末端导线限位壁。
11.根据权利要求10所述的单一元件电连接器,其特征在于,所述底壁在所述接触尖端下方延伸,所述顶壁由所述底壁的朝着所述中心轴线向上弯曲的前部限定。
12.根据权利要求3所述的单一元件电连接器,其特征在于,所述接触表面由所述底壁的一部分限定,使得所述连接器被表面安装到组件,所述中心轴线大致平行于所述组件。
13.根据权利要求3所述的单一元件电连接器,其特征在于,所述接触表面由从任意组合的所述壁大致横向延伸的接触足部限定,使得所述连接器被安装到组件,所述中心轴线大致垂直于所述组件。
