DESIGN FOR COOKlNG-STOVES.
Specification forming part of Design No. 8,864, dated December 21, 1875; application tiled December 15, 1875.
[Term of Patent '7 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, GEORGE A. \VELLS and NICHOLAS S. VEDDER, both of the city of Troy, in the county of Rensselaer and State of New York, and Tomas S. HEISTER, of Lansingburg, in said county and State, have jointly invented and produced a new and original ornamental Design for Cooking Stoves and Ranges, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying cut, print, or engraving of a cooking-stove, having our said new design.
Our design for the main portion of the oven door panel consists of the representation, in relief, of a soldier on the march, with his face turned to the front, and wearing a broad low front-cocked hat, and an overcoat, between the flaps of which one leg is bent and advanced, and having on his back a knapsack, a, and a musket, b, slung obliquely, with the butt-end uppermost, by a belt, 0, passing obliquely across the breast and over one shoulder, and having one arm extended downward, with its hand grasping the musket near its muzzle, and the other arm bent and supported across and against the body, all substantially as represented in the aforesaid print.
Our small panel ornament consists of a cannon, d, and a spoked wheel, 6, arranged together in inclined positions -on elevated ground f, with the wheel in front of and across the cannon, and the bore of the latter in view at its muzzle, and with the spokes, hub, and bore of the wheel exposed on its inclined upper side, and all shaped and disposed together substantially as shown in the aforesaid cut, with or without caunonballs g on the ground.
Our design for the outer panel-border H.
consists of the outer convex molding 'i, the adjacent fillet j, the concave molding k, the adjacent inner fillet l, the fiat face band m, and the series of oval projections n, all shaped, proportioned in width, and arranged together as represented in the aforesaid engraving.
Our design for the outer portion of the doors or panels of the rear section of the stove consists of the outer border H, composed of the parts 27, j, 7;, 1,-m, and n, as above specified, the broad inclined convex surface 0, the head 1), and the inner row of oval projections g, all shaped, arranged, and proportioned substantially as shown in the. aforesaid out.
Our design for the front fire-door consists ofthe outer convex molding r, the concave molding s, the convex molding t, the bead u, the bottom concave molding r, the series of oval ornameutations u, and the panel an, having therein the windows 3/, with Gothicarched tops, all formed, proportioned, and arranged together, substantially as shown in the aforesaid print.
Our design for the legs consists of the cannon d and spoked wheel 0, on the broad swelling surface 1:, surrounded by the ornamental border z, all shaped and arranged substantially as represented in the aforesaid out.
What we claim as our invention and production is- 1. The ornamental design for the main portion of the oven-door panel, consisting of the representation of a marching soldier, having a cooked hat, overcoat, musket, and belt, all shaped and arranged, and with his face, arms, and leg positioned, as above specified, and shown in the accompanying print.
2. The design for the small panel ornament, consisting of the cannon (I, spokcd wheel 0, and elevated ground f, all shaped and arranged as set forth.
3. The design for the outer panel-border H, composed of the parts 'i, j, It, l, m, and n, all shaped, proportioned, and arranged togethcr as described.
4. The design for the outer portion of the doors or panels of the rear section, consisting of the border H, composed as specified, and the parts 0, and q, all shaped and arran gcd as set forth.
5. The design for the front lire-11001300! sislln m the parts 1', x. f, u, r, u, 1', and 3 all shaped, proportioned, and arranged togvthcr. as set forth.
