Description
UNITED STATES PATENT CEEICE.
NICHOLAS S. VEDDER, OF TROY, AND TOBIAS S. HEISTER, OF LANSINGBURG, NEW YORK, ASSIGNORS TOv SAID VEDDER.
DESIGN F'CR COOKING-STOVE.
Specification forming part of Design No. 8,842, dated December 14, 1875; application led December 3, 1875. [Term of Patent 3 yearsf] the panel-ornament for the large oven-door,
the same being a representation of a leaf, A, of a general oblong-ovate, cordate, and acuminate form, with prominent serrate edges b b, a long petiole, c, plain mid-rib, (l, and i11- tervening surfaces c e, covered by vein net- Work, with a spot in each mesh, all shaped and disposed so as to appear substantially as represented in the aforesaid wood-cnt, with or without the tendrils z y.
Another part of our invention is the design for the compound ornamental border for the door -or doors, the same consisting of the angle parts F, each composed of two straight center ribs, g, meeting at an angle, with scalloped edgings within a raised border, the side parts H, each composed of alternate semiglobular projections z' and oblong pointed projections j, joined together, and the tritid ornaments K between and connecting the ends of the angle parts F with the ends of the middle parts H, all shaped and disposed so as to appear substantially as represented in the accompanying print.
Another part of our invention is the design for the small doorpanels, consisting of the double trifid ornament L upon the middle surface M, and the border-molding N composed of the twist-ornamented side portions o and the raised quadrilateral corner parts p, with or without either an intervening bead, q, or an angular line ornamentation, r, all shaped and disposed substantially as shown in the aforesaid engraving. 4
Another part of our invention is the design for the outer portion of the doors, consisting of the ornamental outer border, composed of the parts F, H, and K, formed as above specitied, the inner molding N composed of the parts o and p, as above described, and the intervening surface S, all arranged so as to appear substantially as represented in the aforesaid cut.
Another part of our invention is the design for the legs, the same consisting of the compound ornament'T, composed of the two upper bracteate scroll-tendrils u, a lower bracteatc shoot, 0, and intermediate side scrolls w, all shaped and arranged upon the convex surface w, so as to appear substantially as shown in the aforesaid print.
What we claim as our Vinvention is l. The design for the panel ornament on the oven-door, consisting of the inclined leaf A, having the particular ornamental outline. form, and surface, hereinbefore specified, and shown in the accompanying print.
l2. The design for the compound ornamental door-border, consisting ot' the angle parts F, the side portion H, and connecting ornaments K, all composed and shaped as hereinbefore specified.
3. The design for the small door-panels, consisting of the ornament L on the surface M, and the border-moldin g N, composed of the side parts o, and corner portions p, all
- shaped and arranged as described.
4. The design for the outer portion of the doors, consisting of the ornamental border composed ofthe parts F H K, the inner molding N, and the intermediate surface S, as specified.
5. The design for the legs, consisting ofthe compound ornament T, composed of the parts u, e, and w, shaped and arranged on the convex, surface w, as described.
