DESIGN FOR A STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,604, dated December 20, 1881. Application filed November 18, 1881. Torin of patent? years.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, H. CLAY BASCOM and CYRUS A. HODGES, each a citizen oftbe United States, residingin the city of Troy, in the connty of Rensselaer and State of New York, have jointly invented and produced a new and original Design for (looking Stoves and Ranges, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying out, print, or
engraving of a cooking stove or range having said new design.
The design for the ornamental shelf-crest A consists of the lower band part, a, having the ornaments a, in combination with the upper open-work portion, b, consisting of the combined fillets, scrolls, and ornaments, all shaped and arranged together as represented in the aforesaid print.
The design for the shelf-support B consists of the'middlc pipe portion, (3, having thereon the lower compound panel ornament, c, and upper panel ornament, d, in combination with the double reversed wing-brackets D D, having the lower panels, 6 c, with the plant ornaments 6 e therein, and the upper panels, f, with the ornaments f, the whole being shaped and arranged as represented in the accompanying engraving.
The outline form of the shelf-support B is 0 essentially the same as that shown in United States Design Patent No. 12,092, January 4,
1881; but the ornamentation thereof above described, and shown in the aforesaid engraving, is very different. 7
The design for each of the doors or plates E F G consists of the quadrilateral panel 9, having thereon the compound lower corner ornament, h, the diagonally-opposite upper corner ornament, i, and the intervening representa 0 tion of a flowering plant, j, all composed, shaped, and arranged substantially as shown in the aforesaid cut.
The design for the panel ornament H consists of the two convexly-curved side edges, k,
two convexly-curved end edges, 1, four intermediate angular edge parts, m, name-plate 12, extending obliquely across the body portion, and having angular ends conformed to two of the diagonallyopposite angular parts of the body, and the raised fillets 0 along the edges of said name-plate and body portion, and inclosing the two vine-like scroll-form ornaments 1], all shaped and arranged in combination substantially as shown in the aforesaid print.
The design for the panel border for the oven door 1 consists of the outer convex molding,
q, lower corner compound ornament, r, having the side florets, r, the diagonally-opposite compound corner ornament, s, and the two other diagonally-opposite corner ornaments, t it, all composed, shaped, and arranged together substantiall as shown in the aforesaid engraving.
The design for the oven-door consists, essentially, of the compound central ornament, H, in combination with the corner ornaments,
r s t, all shaped and arranged so as to present substantially the appearance represented in the accompanying out.
The design for the closet-door J consists of the compound central panel ornament, u, in combination with the end panel ornaments, o w 11, all composed, shaped, and arranged substantially as shown in the aforesaid print.
What we claim as ourjoint invention is l. The design for the shelf-crest A, consist ingofthe lower band, a. a, in combination with the open-work upper portion, 11, composed, shaped, and arranged as shown and described.
2. The design for the shelf-support, consist 8o ing of the middle part, 0 c d, and the two side parts, D e e,ff', all shaped and arranged as set forth.
3. The design for the small doors or plates E F G, consisting of the parts g h 1' all shaped and arranged as set forth.
4. The design for the panel ornament H, composed of the parts k, l, m, a, o, and 10, all shaped and arranged as set forth.
5. The design for the panel border of the 0 oven-door, consisting of the parts q M" s t t, all shaped and arranged as set forth.
6. The design for the oven-door, consisting of the parts H r s t, composed, shaped, and arranged as set forth.
7. The design for the closet-door, composed of the ornaments u v w m, shaped and arranged as set forth.
