DESIGN FOR A GAS HEATlNG-STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,092, dated August 14, 1900. Application filed July 5, 1900. Serial No, 22,633. Term of patent 14 years.
To @ZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MATTHEW GEswoLD, J r., a citizen of the United States, residing at Erie, in the county of Erie and State of Penn- 5 sylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Gas Heating-Stoves; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and eXact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, forming part of this specification.
5 The leading feature of my design for a gas heating-stove consists in the shape, contiguration, and ornamentation thereof.
t The figure is a perspective view of a gas eating-stove embodying my design.
the base-section A of the stove iiares outward from the bottom of the lire-box section B, which rests thereon. This base A is generally rectangularin shape and contour, with the corners thereof rounded,
the corners thereof. The upper parts of the legs O are circular in shape, corresponding with the rounded corners of the base A, and generally taper toward the :feet c thereof and are ornamented o on their fronts with raised scroll and foliate work C'. Around the bottom of the base A there is a plain band a, above which the corners thereof are ornamented with scroll and foliate figures a', and the front and ends of the base A, between the corner iigures d', are ornamented by raised foliate figures a2,sp1inging from the base just above the hand c, and across the front of the base A there is a plain foot-rail a3.
D The fire-boxsection rests upon the top of the base A and is rectangular in shape and extends upward substantially vertical for approximately two-thirds of its height, from which point the front thereof grad ually curves inward untilitmeets the base of the top section D thereof, while the ends are substantially vertical until they meet the base of the section D. The lower or vertical portion of the front of the re-boX B is divided into three rectanlar panels B B2 B3. These panels B', B2,
' and B3 are provided with oval-shaped openings b', separated by ornam ental foliate-work stiles h2. The ends of the hre-box section B consist of single panels B4, having rounded tops extending up to the base of the section D, and are provided with oval-shaped openings b'g, separated by ornamental foliate-work stiles b4.
The corners of the upper portion of the section B round from the ends into the curved front section and are ornamented with raised foliate-work b5, and the curved portion of the front is formed into three panels B5, B6, and B7, corresponding to the panels B/ 132133 below. The central of these panels B'is rectangular, andthe panels B5 and B7 have their outer upper corners cut away by the foliate cornerwork b5. These panels all have oval-shaped openings h6, separated by ornamental foliatework stiles 297. The base of the top section D is provided with a plain band d, from which it curves upward and inward to the top thereof, which has a narrow plain band CZ between the bands CZ and d. This section is ornamented by raised foliate and scroll work d2. From the top of the section D ve vertical pipes E E F F and G rise, upon which the top section H rests. These pipes are oval in cross-section and are ornamented with beads e near the bottom thereof, and the central pipe G is provided with an ornamental plate g, substantially shield-shaped, ornamented with foliate-work g. Nearthe upper ends of these pipes are beads j, and just below where the pipes meet the top section H they are ornamented with ornamental scrollwork gures f.
The top section H is generally rectangular in shape, with the corners thereof rounded, and overhangs the tops of the pipes E E G F F, entering the bottom thereof, and around the lower edge thereof there is a plain band 7L, above which the top curves upward and inward to aplain vertical band 71/,the edge of the flat top thereof, the surface of the top H between the bands 71, andkh being ornamented with raised scroll and foliate work 7a2. Upon the central part of the top H of the stove there is an ornamental urn I, the base of which is made of open-work I,and. the handles it' there- IOO on are of the Egyptian style oforuainentation. In testimony whereof I aixemy signature Otherwise the ornamentation of the urn I is in presence of two Witnesses. of the conventional style.
Having thus described my design, what I MATTHEW GRSWOLD JR' 5 claim is- Witnesses: v
