Abstract

Un proceso para producir alcohol isopropilico de alta pureza. En una forma de realizacion, el proceso comprende los pasos de: (a) alimentar una corriente de alimentacio que comprende al menos alrededor de 99.9% en peso de alcohol isopropilico a una columna de separacion; (b) separar el alcohol isopropilico en una corriente de cabezal tomada en el cabezal de la columna de separacion y una corriente de colas tomada como colas de la columna de separacion; y (c) remover el alcohol isopropilico de alta pureza en un punto: (i) debajo de donde la corriente de alimentacion entra a la columna de separacion pero sobre la corriente de colas, o (ii) sobre donde la corriente de alimentacion entra a la columna de separacion pero por debajo de la corriente de cabezal, donde el alcohol isopropilico de alta pureza tiene un contenido de metales de menos de alrededor de 1 ppmm y un contenido de agua de menos de alrededor de 100 ppm. De manera opcional, el proceso incluye el paso de hacer pasar el alcohol isopropilico de alta pureza a traves de una resina de intercambio ionico despues de remover el alcohol isopropilico de alta pureza de la columna de separacion, con ello formando un alcohol isopropilico de pureza ultra-elevada que contiene menos de 100 ppb de cualquier impureza de metal.
