Abstract
Un proceso para producir alcohol isopropílico de muy alta pureza. En una realizacion, el proceso comprende las etapas de: (a) alimentar una corriente de alimentacion que comprende alcohol isopropílico de por lo menos aproximadamente 99,9% en peso en una columna de separacion; (b) separar dicho alcohol isopropílico en una corriente de cabeza extraída como cabeza de la columna de separacion y una corriente de cola extraída como cola de la columna de separacion; y (c) remover dicho alcohol isopropílico de alta pureza en un punto: (i) por debajo de donde la corriente de alimentacion entra en la columna de separacion pero por encima de la corriente de cola, o (ii) por encima de donde la corriente de alimentacion entra en la columna de separacion pero por debajo de la corriente de cabeza, donde el alcohol isopropílico de alta pureza tiene un contenido de metales de menos de aproximadamente 1ppb y un contenido de agua de menos de aproximadamente 100 ppm. Opcionalmente el proceso incluye la etapa de hacer pasar el alcohol isopropílico de alta pureza a través de una resina de intercambio ionico, después de remover el alcohol isopropílico de alta pureza de la columna de separacion, produciendo así un alcohol isopropílico de muy alta pureza que tiene menos de aproximadamente 100ppt de cualquier impureza de metal.
