Abstract

Un despliegue de vista directa que comprende: a) medios de generación deluz para generar luz; b) medios de modulación para modular la luz de dichomedio de generación de luz para formar una imagen; y c) medios dedespliegue de imágenes para desplegar la imagen del medio de modulacióncolocado junto a la superficie de salida de la luz del medio demodulación, dicho medio de despliegue comprende un arreglo de guías deonda ópticas ahusadas en un substrato plano, el extremo ahusado de lasguías de onda se extienden hacia afuera de dicho substrato y tienen unasuperficie de entrada de luz adyacente al substrato y una superficie desalida de luz distante de dicha superficie de entrada de luz, en donde:(i) el área de la superficie de entrada de luz de cada guía de onda es másgrande que el área de la superficie de salida de luz, y la distancia decentro a centro entre superficies de entrada de luz de guías de ondaadyacentes en dicho arreglo es igual a la distancia de centro a centroentre las superficies de salida de luz de las mismas, de tal manera que ladistribución angular de luz que sale de las superficies de salida de lasguías de onda es mayor que la distribución angular de luz que entra a lasguías de onda; y (ii) las guías de onda de dicho arreglo están separadospor regiones intersticiales con un índice de refracción menor que elíndice de refracción de las guías de onda.
