Claims (7)
- 매트릭스 형태로 배치된 다수의 EL 소자(12, 52)와, 상기 EL 소자(12, 52)의 대응하는 하나에 대해 각각 배치된 다수의 구동유닛(11, 51)을 포함하는 유기 EL 소자에 있어서,상기 구동유닛(11, 51) 각각은 한번의 프레임 기간에 주사신호의 레벨이 활성인 동안 아날로그 영상신호를 전송하기 위해 주사신호에 의해 활성화된 전송 스위치(17, 57)와,상기 전송 스위치(17, 57)에 의해 전송된 영상신호를 기억하는 기억 커패시터(16, 56)와,상기 EL 소자(12, 52)의 대응하는 하나에 전류를 공급하기 위해 상기 기억 커패시터(16,56)에 의해 기억된 영상신호에 의해 제어되는 구동 트랜지스터(15, 55)와,상기 기억 커패시터(16)에 기억된 전하를 방전하기 위해 블랭킹 신호에 응답하는 블랭킹 스위치(20, 60)를 포함하는 것으로서,상기 블랭킹 신호는 프레임 기간의 종료시에 실질적으로 활성인 것을 특징으로 하는 유기 EL 소자.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 구동유닛(51)은 상기 EL 소자(12)의 컬럼에 대해 배치된 신호선(58)으로부터 전류신호를 수신하기 위해 주사신호에 의해 활성화 된 다른 전송 스위치(62)와,전류신호를 영상신호로 변환하는 변환 트랜지스터(61)를 또한 포함하는 것을 특으로 하는 유기 EL 소자.
- 제2항에 있어서,상기 다른 전송 스위치(62) 및 상기 구동 트랜지스터(55)는 전류미러를 형성하는 것을 특징으로 하는 유기 EL 소자.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 기억 커패시터(16)는 드레인과 상기 블랭킹 스위치(60)의 소스 사이의 기생 용량에 의해 구현되는 것을 특징으로 하는 유기 EL 소자.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 각각의 구동 트랜지스터(15), 상기 전송 스위치(17) 및 상기 블랭킹 스위치(20)는 박막 트랜지스터에 의해 구현되는 것을 특징으로 하는 유기 EL 소자.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 구동회로는 활성 매트릭스 구동방식을 사용한 것을 특지으로 하는 유기 EL 소자.
- 매트릭스 형태로 배치된 복수의 EL 소자(12)를 포함하는 유기 EL 소자를 구동하는 방법에 있어서,한번의 프레임 기간에 주사신호에 따라 아날로그 영상신호를 연속적으로 전송하고,기억 커패시터(16)에 영상신호를 기억하고 상기 한번의 프레임 기간에 상기 기억 커패시터(16)에 기억된 영상신호에 따라 상기 유기 EL 소자(12)에 전류를 공급하고,다음의 프레임 기간동안 영상신호의 전송을 준비하기 위해 상기 프레임 기간의 종료시에 상기 기억 커패시터(16)에 기억된 영상신호를 블랭킹하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 유기 EL 소자를 구동하는 방법.
