Description
本実施形態の画像形成装置は、複数の像担持体と、前記複数の像担持体が担持する像が転写される回転可能な転写体とを有する画像形成装置であって、前記転写体の弾性仕事率は、前記複数の像担持体の弾性仕事率よりも大きく、前記転写体の回転方向における最上流側の前記像担持体と前記転写体との弾性仕事率の差分は、前記最上流側の像担持体以外の像担持体と前記転写体との弾性仕事率の差分よりも小さいことを特徴とする。
本実施形態の画像形成装置は、感光体1、帯電器2、現像器4、感光体クリーニングユニット7が一体化されたプロセスユニット10等を備えている。プロセスユニット10は並列に4個配設され、例えばブラック、シアン、マゼンタ、イエロー用のプロセスユニットが用いられる。フルカラー画像形成時は、各色の可視像が転写ベルト15に順次重ねられて転写される。
電荷発生層921は、電荷発生物質を主成分とする層である。電荷発生層921には、公知の電荷発生物質を用いることが可能であり、その代表として、モノアゾ顔料、ジスアゾ顔料、トリスアゾ顔料、ペリレン系顔料、ペリノン系顔料、キナクリドン系顔料、キノン系縮合多環化合物、スクアリック酸系染料、他のフタロシアニン系顔料、ナフタロシアニン系顔料、アズレニウム塩系染料等が挙げられ用いられる。これら電荷発生物質は単独でも、2種以上混合してもかまわない。
必要に応じて電荷発生層921に用いられる結着樹脂としては、ポリアミド、ポリウレタン、エポキシ樹脂、ポリケトン、ポリカーボネート、シリコン樹脂、アクリル樹脂、ポリビニルブチラール、ポリビニルホルマール、ポリビニルケトン、ポリスチレン、ポリスルホン、ポリ-N-ビニルカルバゾール、ポリアクリルアミド、ポリビニルベンザール、ポリエステル、フェノキシ樹脂、塩化ビニル-酢酸ビニル共重合体、ポリ酢酸ビニル、ポリフェニレンオキシド、ポリアミド、ポリビニルピリジン、セルロース系樹脂、カゼイン、ポリビニルアルコール、ポリビニルピロリドン等が挙げられる。
上述した電荷発生物質を結着樹脂中に分散した感光体1が使用できる。単層の感光層92は、電荷発生物質、電荷輸送物質、結着樹脂を適当な溶剤に溶解ないし分散し、これを塗布、乾燥することによって形成できる。
単層の感光層92の膜厚は、5~25[μm]程度が好ましい。
下引き層94の膜厚は1~5[μm]が好ましい。
表面層93膜厚は、1.0~8.0[μm]の範囲であることが好ましい。
転写ベルト15の素材としては、例えばPI(ポリイミド)、PAI(ポリアミドイミド)、TPI(熱可塑性ポリイミド)、PVDF(ポリフッ化ビニリデン)、PEEK(ポリエーテルエーテルケトン)を、用いることができる。また、PC(ポリカーボネート)、PPS(ポリフェニレンサルファイド)等を用いることができる。
金属系(Ag,Ni,Cu,Zn,Al,ステンレス等)は最も導電性が高く、高抵抗を狙う場合には留意する。また、高価なAu,Ag以外は酸化しやすく、抵抗値が変化する場合があることに留意する。
金属酸化物系(SnO2,In2O3,ZnO)は導電性を得るためには、樹脂の合計に対し10~50質量%配合することが好ましく、ポリマーの機械特性が低下する場合があることに留意する。また、高コスト材料となる場合があることに留意する。
カーボン系は価格も安く、中~高抵抗範囲も制御可能である。
従って、転写ベルト15の弾性仕事率を調整する方法としては、例えば用いる材料の種類を適宜選択する他、導電性カーボンの種類や量、成形条件を変更する方法等が挙げられる。
2次転写ローラ25としては、例えば、イオン導電性ローラ(ウレタンとカーボンを分散させたもの、NBR(アクリロニトリル・ブタジエンゴム)、ヒドリンゴム等)、電子導電タイプのローラ(EPDM(エチレンプロピレンジエンゴム))等を用いることができる。
引力転写方式は、2次転写ローラ25にプラス(+)のバイアスを印加し、転写駆動ローラ21を接地することで2次転写電界を形成する。斥力転写方式は、転写駆動ローラ21にマイナス(-)のバイアスを印加し、2次転写ローラ25を接地することで2次転写電界を形成する。
上記のように、本実施形態では、感光体(像担持体)から可視像が転写ベルト(転写体)に転写され、転写ベルト上の可視像が記録媒体に定着されて画像が形成される。

ブラックの像を担持する前記像担持体と前記転写体との弾性仕事率の差分は、前記ブラックの像を担持する像担持体以外の像担持体と前記転写体との弾性仕事率の差分よりも大きいことを特徴とする画像形成装置。 - 前記転写体の弾性仕事率が30%以上であることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の画像形成装置。
- 前記転写体の弾性仕事率が70%以下であることを特徴とする請求項1~3のいずれかに記載の画像形成装置。
- 前記転写体が転写ベルトであり、前記複数の像担持体が感光体であることを特徴とする請求項1~4のいずれかに記載の画像形成装置。
