Description
のアクリル酸シリル共重合体が船舶用防汚塗料に処方するのに有用であることを開示している。
図1は、重合体中のアクリル酸トリフェニルシリル残基のモル%と該重合体の海水での浸食速度との関係を例示しており、且つその浸食速度とトリ有機錫を主体とする重合体の浸食速度とを比較している。それぞれのフェニル基は、置換又は非置換又は複素環式芳香族基であってよく、また、それぞれは同種又は異種であってよい。
本発明は、(メタ)アクリル酸トリアリールシリル含有重合体であってその(メタ)アクリル酸トリアリールシリル成分が非常に低レベルで存在するものが自己研磨特性を有する船舶用防汚塗料を製造するのに有用であるという発見に関する。
のランダム反復単位を含む海水浸食性重合体に関し、該重合体は、海水浸食速度が2〜約15ミクロン/月であることを特徴とする。
キシレンを、冷却器、不活性ガス/真空ラインコネクター、2個の変速シリンジポンプ、セプタム入口、±2℃の温度制御及び機械撹拌機を備えた微小反応器に注入した。キシレンを86℃に加熱し、そして10分間にわたってその温度で保持した。次いで、シリンジポンプを作動させ、そして、単量体、開始剤(2,2'−アゾビス(イソブチロニトリル))及びキシレンの混合物を1時間にわたって添加した。この反応混合物をさらに3時間にわたって86℃で保持し、その後、温度を110℃に上昇させ且つこのレベルで10分間保持した。次いで、加熱を停止し、そして反応器を室温にまで冷却させた。この実験における単量体は、メタクリル酸トリフェニルシリル(TPSMA)及びメタクリル酸メチル(MMA)であった。これらの組成を以下の表2にまとめている。
相対的に移動している海水での重合体の性能を図2及び3に図示した器具で試験した。これらの図を参照すると、8インチ(20.32cm)の直径を有するポリメタクリル酸メチルのディスク1を、この試験を受ける重合体を塗膜を付着させるのに適した塗布器から塗布して、放射状のストライプ2で被覆した。このディスク1を乾燥させるために放置し、そしてストライプ2の厚さをTencor Alpha Step500型彫盤を使用して接触側面ごとに測定した。

Claims (14)
- 船舶用防汚塗料のバインダーとして使用するのに好適な海水浸食速度を有し且つ改善された柔軟性を有する三元共重合体であって、
式:−[A]−[B]−
[式中、Aは、該船舶用防汚塗料を構成する該重合体を製造するために使用される単量体の総量に基づいて9モル%よりも大〜20モル%で存在し且つアクリル酸トリフェニルシリル又はメタクリル酸トリフェニルシリルであり、そしてBはメタクリル酸メチル及びアクリル酸n−オクチルの残基を表す]
の重合体からなり、該三元共重合体が2〜15ミクロン/月の海水浸食速度を特徴とする、前記三元共重合体。 - 重合体が2〜15ミクロン/月の海水浸食速度を特徴とする、請求項1に記載の海水浸食性三元共重合体。
- 前記三元共重合体が1000〜200000g/モルの範囲の分子量を有する請求項1に記載の海水浸食性三元共重合体。
- 重合触媒又は開始剤の存在下での単量体Aと基Bの1種以上のエチレン性不飽和単量体との反応生成物からなる三元共重合体であって、該単量体Aは、アクリル酸トリフェニルシリル又はメタクリル酸トリフェニルシリルであり、該Bはメタクリル酸メチル及びアクリル酸n−オクチルを表し、該三元共重合体中の単量体Aの残基が該三元共重合体の9モル%よりも大〜20モル%であり、しかも該三元共重合体は、2〜15ミクロン/月の海水浸食速度を特徴とする前記三元共重合体。
- 前記三元共重合体が1000〜200000g/モルの範囲の分子量を有する請求項4に記載の三元共重合体。
- 請求項1に記載の三元共重合体及び有機溶媒を含む重合体組成物。
- 脱水剤、ゼオライト、酸中和剤、アミノ含有化合物、酸化防止剤、キレート化剤及びアルコキシシランから選択される安定剤をさらに含む請求項6に記載の重合体組成物。
- 請求項4に記載の三元共重合体及び有機溶媒を含む重合体組成物。
- 脱水剤、ゼオライト、酸中和剤、アミノ含有化合物、酸化防止剤、キレート化剤及びアルコキシシランから選択される安定剤をさらに含む請求項8に記載の重合体組成物。
- 請求項1に記載の三元共重合体、殺生物剤及び安定剤を含み、2〜15ミクロン/月の海水浸食速度を特徴とする、自己研磨型船舶用防汚塗料組成物。
- 前記安定剤が前記組成物中に該組成物の重量を基にして0.1〜10重量%で存在する請求項10に記載の自己研磨型船舶用防汚塗料組成物。
- ロジン及びロジン誘導体をさらに含む請求項10に記載の自己研磨型船舶用防汚塗料組成物。
- ロジン及びロジン誘導体が重合体の5〜60重量%の範囲で存在する請求項12に記載の自己研磨型船舶用防汚塗料組成物。
- 請求項1に記載の三元共重合体、殺生物剤及び安定剤を含む淡水又は汽水用途の自己研磨型防汚塗料組成物であって、該用途の淡水又は汽水中で2〜15ミクロン/月の浸食速度を特徴とする自己研磨型防汚塗料組成物。
