Description
本発明は、電池特性と、接着力及び/またはコーティング特性に関連して物性が異なる2相以上の構造を有する複合ポリマー粒子を含有するバインダーであって、電池特性が調節できる単量体を主成分とするポリマー(a)と;接着力が調節できる単量体を含むポリマー(b)と接着力とコーティング特性ともに調節できる単量体を含むポリマー(c)のいずれか、または両方と;を含むことを特徴とするバインダーを提供する。
本発明に係る電池用バインダーは、通常の方法で溶媒に溶解させるか、または分散媒に分散させて製造すればよい。
本発明のスラリーは、上述した本発明のバインダー組成物に活物質及び必要に応じて添加物を混合してなるものである。
本発明の電極は、前記バインダー組成物に活物質を混合してなる混合物である電池電極用スラリーを集電体に塗布し、分散媒を乾燥等の方法で除去して、集電体に活物質を決着させると共に、活物質同士を決着させてなるものである。
本発明のリチウム二次電池は、前記した本発明の電極を正極及び/または負極として使用してなる。このようなリチウム二次電池における電解液としては、通常に使用するものであればよく、負極活物質、正極活物質の種類によって電池としての機能を発揮するものを選択すればよい。例えば、リチウム二次電池の電解液としては、LiPF6、LiClO4、LiBF4、LiN(SO2CF3)2等を支持電解質とし、高誘電性溶媒であるEC或いはPCと低粘度溶媒であるDEC、DMC、EMC等のアルキルカーボネートを適宜に調節してなる混合溶媒を使用する。
イオン交換水196.0gを反応器内に投入し、温度を75℃まで上げた。イオン交換水の温度が75℃に到ると、スチレン49.8g、1,3−ブタジエン46.5g、ラウリル硫酸ナトリウム0.65gを投入した。反応器内の温度を75℃に保持しながら過硫酸カリウム0.32gを10.0gのイオン交換水に溶解させ投入することによりポリマー(a)重合を完成した。
水を分散媒として天然黒鉛94g、導電性高分子1.0g、バインダー2.5g、水溶性高分子2.5gの割合で混合し、全体の固形分の含量が45%になるようにして負極用スラリーを製造した。
前記完成した各スラリーを、負極は銅箔に、正極はアルミニウム箔に200μmの厚さで塗布し、90℃で10分、120℃で10分間常圧乾燥し、120℃で2時間真空乾燥した。乾燥された各電極を空隙率(porosity)が30%になるようにプレスして電極を完成した。
前記乾燥された正極と負極との間にポリオレフィン微細多孔膜からなるセパレータ膜を介在してコイン型電池を製作した。そして、EC:EMC=1:2(体積比)の混合溶媒を使用してLiPF6電解質を1モル/リットルの濃度で溶解させた電解液を投入して電池を完成した。
電池特性は、0.1C正電流法で3サイクルと30サイクルの充・放電を繰り返して行い、初期容量、初期効率、3サイクル後の容量、30サイクル後の容量を比較した。評価は、同一のバインダー組成物に対し5個以上のコイン型電池を製作して行い、その平均値を評価値とした。
活物質と集電体との接着力を測定するために製作した電極の表面にエポキシ板を貼って活物質を固定させ、所定の厚さに切った集電体を剥がすことで180°剥離強度を測定した。評価は、5個以上の剥離強度を測定し、その平均値を評価値とした。
コーティング特性を評価するために固形分の含量を既存の45%から51%に上げてスラリーを製造した後、同様に集電体に200μmの厚さに塗布し、塗布した状態を○、×にて評価した(○:スラリーが集電体に完全に塗布された場合、×:塗布されていない集電体の表面が現われた場合)。
ポリマー(a)重合物は、比較例3と同一の重合方法を用いて製造し、この、ポリマー(a)重合物にイオン交換水93.0g、スチレン30.0g、ブチルアクリレート60.1g、アリルメタクリレート0.8g、イタコン酸2.0g、アクリルアミド1.4g、アクリル酸2.0g、ラウリル硫酸ナトリウム0.15gを混合し乳濁させてなる反応物を3時間にわたって投入しながら、過硫酸カリウム0.21gを10.0gのイオン交換水に溶解させ、同様に3時間にわたって投入することによりポリマー(c)重合を完成した。
Claims (13)
- 電池特性、接着力、コーティング特性に関連して物性が異なる2相以上の構造を有する複合ポリマー粒子を含有するリチウム二次電池用バインダーであって、
複合ポリマー粒子は、
電池特性が調節できる単量体を含むポリマー(a)と、
接着力とコーティング特性ともに調節できる単量体を含むポリマー(c)と
を含み、
ポリマー(a)は複合ポリマー粒子のコア部分を占有し、ポリマー(c)はポリマー(a)を覆っており、ポリマー(a)とポリマー(c)との間に、接着力が調節できる単量体を含むポリマー(b)をさらに含有し、
ポリマー(a)は、スチレン系モノマー、エチレン、プロピレン、共役ジエン系モノマー、含ニトリルモノマー、アクリル酸エステル、及びメタクリル酸エステルからなる第一の単量体群より選択された1種以上の単量体を重合してなり、
ポリマー(b)は、アクリルアミド系モノマー、メタクリルアミド系モノマー、不飽和モノカルボン酸系モノマー、及び不飽和ジカルボン酸系モノマーからなる第二の単量体群より選択された1種以上の単量体を単独重合または共重合してなるか、或いは前記第二の単量体群より選択された1種以上の単量体と前記第一の単量体群より選択された1種以上の単量体とを共重合してなり、
ポリマー(c)は、アクリルアミド系モノマー、不飽和モノカルボン酸系モノマー、及び不飽和ジカルボン酸系モノマーを含んで共重合してなることを特徴とする、リチウム二次電池用バインダー。 - 第一の単量体は、スチレン、α−メチルスチレン、β−メチルスチレン、p−t−ブチルスチレン;エチレン、プロピレン;1,3−ブタジエン、2,3−ジメチル−1,3−ブタジエン、1,3−ペンタジエン、p−ペリレン、イソプレン;アクリロニトリル、メタクリロニトリル;メチルアクリレート、エチルアクリレート、プロピルアクリレート、イソプロピルアクリレート、n−ブチルアクリレート、イソブチルアクリレート、n−アミルアクリレート、イソアミルアクリレート、n−ヘキシルアクリレート、2−エチルヘキシルアクリレート、ヒドロキシプロピルアクリレート、ラウリルアクリレート;メチルメタクリレート、エチルメタクリレート、プロピルメタクリレート、イソプロピルメタクリレート、n−ブチルメタクリレート、イソブチルメタクリレート、n−アミルメタクリレート、イソアミルメタクリレート、n−ヘキシルメタクリレート、2−エチルヘキシルメタクリレート、ヒドロキシプロピルメタクリレート、ラウリルメタクリレートからなる群より選択されることを特徴とする、請求項1記載のリチウム二次電池用バインダー。
- 第二の単量体は、アクリルアミド、n−メチロールアクリルアミド、n−ブトキシアクリルアミド;メタクリルアミド、n−メチロールメタクリルアミド、n−ブトキシメチルメタクリルアミド;アクリル酸、メタクリル酸;イタコン酸、マレイン酸、フマル酸、シトラコン酸、メタコン酸、グルタコン酸、テトラヒドロフタル酸、クロトン酸、イソクロトン酸、ナジック酸(nadic acid)からなる群より選択されることを特徴とする、請求項1記載のリチウム二次電池用バインダー。
- ポリマー(c)は、第一の単量体群及び第二の単量体群より選ばれた1種以上の単量体が更に加えられて共重合されてなることを特徴とする、請求項1記載のリチウム二次電池用バインダー。
- ポリマー(c)は、アクリルアミド、アクリル酸、及びイタコン酸を含んで共重合してなる共重合体であることを特徴とする、請求項1記載のリチウム二次電池用バインダー。
- 50〜90重量%のポリマー(a)と、10〜50重量%のポリマー(c)とを含むことを特徴とする、請求項1記載のリチウム二次電池用バインダー。
- 10〜50重量%のポリマー(a)と、10〜40重量%のポリマー(b)と、10〜50重量%のポリマー(c)とを含むことを特徴とする、請求項1記載のリチウム二次電池用バインダー。
- 最終の粒径が100nm〜300nmであることを特徴とする、請求項1記載のリチウム二次電池用バインダー。
- ポリマー(a)、ポリマー(b)、ポリマー(c)の各ガラス転移温度が−10℃〜30℃であることを特徴とする、請求項1記載のリチウム二次電池用バインダー。
- ゲル含量が50%以上であることを特徴とする、請求項1記載のリチウム二次電池用バインダー。
- 請求項1〜10のいずれか一項に記載のリチウム二次電池用バインダーと活物質とを含有してなるリチウムイオン二次電池電極用スラリー。
- 請求項11に記載のスラリーが集電体に塗布されてなるリチウムイオン二次電池用電極。
- 請求項12に記載の電極を含むリチウムイオン二次電池。
