Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 【０００１】 【産業上の利用分野】本発明は塗装ゴルフボール、すな
わちディンプル表面に有するゴルフボール上を塗料で塗
装したゴルフボールに関する。 【０００２】 【従来の技術】ゴルフボールは外観をきれいに保つのと
共に汚れの付着を防止するために、その表面にエナメル
ペイント、クリアーペイントの両方またはクリアーペイ
ントのみからなる塗膜を形成して表面を被覆している。
また、ゴルフボールの表面にはディンプルと呼ばれる凹
部が形成されていて、そのディンプルで一定の飛行性能
および飛距離を出すようにしている。 【０００３】しかしながら、このディンプルが持つ飛行
性能を安定して引き出すには、ゴルフボールの表面を被
覆する塗膜が均一でなければならない。一方ゴルフボー
ル表面にあるディンプルがそのエッヂがかなり鋭く、通
常の塗料ではエッヂ部の塗料が塗装直後にすぐに流動し
てエッヂ部の膜厚が薄くなる。 【０００４】これを改良するために、塗料の粘度を上昇
させることが行われているが、塗料の粘度を上昇させる
と塗装が難しく、とくに塗装機から塗料を霧化させると
きの霧化状態が悪く、ゴルフボール表面での平滑性が得
られず、外観が悪くなる。 【０００５】 【発明が解決しようとする課題】本発明は、上記のよう
なゴルフボール塗料の持つ欠点を改良し、ゴルフボール
表面に均一な塗膜、とくにディンプルのエッヂ部でも均
一な塗膜を有するゴルフボールを提供する。 【０００６】 【課題を解決するための手段】すなわち、本発明はディ
ンプルを表面に有するゴルフボール上を塗料でエアーガ
ンまたは静電塗装により塗装した塗装ゴルフボールにお
いて、該塗料がウレタン系および／またはエポキシ塗料
であり、かつ塗料樹脂固形分１００重量％に対し０.１
〜３重量％の無水ケイ酸、含水ケイ酸またはそれらの混
合物を含むことを特徴とする塗装ゴルフボールを提供す
る。 【０００７】本発明に用いるゴルフボールはいかなるタ
イプのゴルフボールでも、その表面にディンプルを有し
ていればよい。ゴルフボールは具体的には糸巻きゴルフ
ボール、ツーピースゴルフボール、ワンピースゴルフボ
ールおよびスリーピース以上の層構造を有するゴルフボ
ールのいずれであってもよい。 【０００８】ディンプルの上に通常ウレタン系および／
またはエポキシ系の塗料が塗布される。ウレタン系塗料
とは、出来上がった塗膜がウレタン結合を主体とする結
合を有する樹脂から形成されていることを言い、エポキ
シ系塗料とは出来上がった塗膜がエポキシ樹脂を主体と
する塗料である。塗料はクリアー塗料あるいは顔料を含
むエナメル塗料のいずれであってもよい。 【０００９】本発明では塗料樹脂固形分１００重量％に
対し１〜３重量％の無水ケイ酸、含水ケイ酸またはそれ
らの混合物のいずれかを含む。一般に無水ケイ酸や含水
ケイ酸はペイントに配合すると、高剪断力時には粘度は
変わらないが、低剪断力時には粘度が高くなる。ゴルフ
ボールの塗装時にペイントをノズルから噴出される時に
粘度が低下し、塗布にペイントが静止して、剪断力がか
からず粘度が上昇する。この作用により、本発明の効果
を発揮するものと考えられる。上記特定の無機化合物以
外に従来から使用されている無機充填剤、たとえば、硫
酸バリウムや二酸化チタン等を含んでもよい。無水ケイ
酸や含水ケイ酸の粒径にはとくに限定はないが、好まし
くは２０μｍ以下、より好ましくは１０μｍ以下であ
る。 【００１０】上記無水ケイ酸や含水ケイ酸はシランカッ
プリング剤、シリコンオイル、脂肪酸、有機塩、アンモ
ニウム塩等で表面処理を施してもよい。これらの表面処
理することにより、塗料によっては沈降性防止による分
散性向上が図られる。 【００１１】本発明に添加する無水ケイ酸や含水ケイ酸
またはそれらの混合物の量が０.１重量％より少ない
と、塗料が流動してしまい、ディンプルのエッヂ部での
膜厚が薄くなり、優れた効果が得られない。また３重量
％を越えると、クリアー塗料の場合には光沢がなくな
り、また流動性が著しく少なくなり、均一に塗装できな
い。 【００１２】ゴルフボールに塗装する塗料中には、前記
主剤とする樹脂、および無水ケイ酸や含水ケイ酸または
それらの混合物の他に、溶剤や硬化剤などを含む。溶剤
および硬化剤はゴルフボールの塗装において従来用いら
れているすべてのものが用いられる。塗料中には必要に
応じてシリコン系レベリング剤や界面活性剤等を添加し
て、塗料の性能を改質してもよい。塗料は、ゴルフボー
ル表面に塗装される。一般にエアーガン方式で塗装され
るが、静電塗装を行ってもよい。 【００１３】通常ゴルフボールは、全体で５〜６０μm
の塗装層を有する。上記塗料は１回塗装することによ
り、５〜４０μmの膜厚のとき効果が著しい。 【００１４】 【発明の効果】本発明はペイント塗装後のディンプルエ
ッヂ部での流動性が少なくなり、全体が均一な塗膜で被
覆されたゴルフボールを得ることができる。したがって
外観が優れ、かつディンプルの深さ、大きさ、形状が一
定で安定したものになる。これによりゴルフボールの飛
行性能が安定化し、優れたゴルフボールを得ることがで
きる。またゴルフボールのディンプルのエッヂ部は一番
摩耗が高く、その部分に十分な膜厚を得ることができる
ことで、耐摩耗性が向上する。 【００１５】 【実施例】本発明を実施例によりさらに詳細に説明す
る。本発明はこれら実施例に限定されるものと解しては
ならない。 【００１６】実施例１〜３、参考例１〜２、および比較例１〜３ 通常のゴルフボールの上に表１に示す成分を含有する塗
料を静電塗装方法で塗装することにより、塗装ゴルフボ
ールを得た。この塗装ゴルフボールのディンプルエッヂ
部、ランド部およびディンプル底の３つの部分での膜厚
を測定し、その結果を表１に示す。また外観も目視評価
して、表１に示す。 【００１７】 【表１】【００１８】 (１)含水ケイ素:日本シリカ社から市販のニブシールＬ
Ｐ (２)無水ケイ酸:日本アエルジルから市販のアエルジル
３００ (３)ベントナイトクレー:白石工業株式会社から市販の
オルベン (４)極微細炭酸カルシウム:竹原化学株式会社製ホワイ
トシールＷ−ＫＫ 【００１９】表１中において樹脂分として記載されてい
るものの中には、基剤樹脂、溶剤および硬化剤などが含
まれたものであるの固形分であり、表１中の配合量はす
べて重量部である。 【００２０】表１から明らかなように比較例１および２
では無水ケイ酸や含水ケイ酸またはそれらの混合物のい
ずれかを全然含まないか、少し含む例を示し、比較例３
ではそれらを多量に配合する例を示している。無水ケイ
酸、含水ケイ酸またはそれらの混合物のいずれかが少な
いものはディンプルのエッヂ部分での膜厚が極端に低く
なり、逆に非常に多いものではある程度の厚さが保てる
ものの、平滑性がなく外観が悪くなる。実施例のゴルフ
ボールはすべて均一な膜厚を有しており、外観も優れて
いる。尚、参考例として、ベントナイトクレーや極微細
炭酸カルシウムを含む例も示している。 【００２１】実施例４〜６、参考例３〜４および比較例４〜５ 表２に示す配合の塗料を用いる以外は実施例１と同様に
評価を行った。結果を表２に示す。なおこの実施例はエ
ナメルペイントを用いる実施例である。 【００２２】 【表２】 【００２３】表２から明らかなように、比較例の無水ケ
イ酸や含水ケイ酸またはそれらの混合物のいずれかをま
ったく用いない、あるいは少し用いる例では、ディンプ
ルエッヂ部での膜厚が低く、エッヂ部が透けて見える。
逆に比較例６において示すようにそれらの配合量が非常
に多いとペイントの膜厚は十分あるものの、ディンプル
底が薄く、不均一に塗装される。しかしながら、本願発
明のものはすべて均一な膜厚を有し、しかも外観も優れ
ている。尚、参考例として、ベントナイトクレーや極微
細炭酸カルシウムを含む例も示している。

  1. (57)【特許請求の範囲】 【請求項１】 ディンプルを表面に有するゴルフボール
    上を塗料でエアーガンまたは静電塗装により塗装した塗
    装ゴルフボールにおいて、該塗料がウレタン系および／
    またはエポキシ塗料であり、かつ塗料樹脂固形分１００
    重量％に対し０.１〜３重量％の無水ケイ酸、含水ケイ
    酸またはそれらの混合物を含むことを特徴とする塗装ゴ
    ルフボール。
