Abstract
Description
外部導線と電極活物質との間で電子を伝達する電極集電体、及び前記電極集電体上に順次塗布されている3層以上の電極合剤層を含み、
前記電極合剤層は、それぞれ電極活物質及び導電材を含み、
前記電極合剤層の形成方向を基準として、互いに隣接する電極合剤層のうち、相対的に集電体に近い側に位置する電極合剤層の導電材の含量が、相対的に集電体から遠い側に位置する電極合剤層の導電材の含量よりも多いことを特徴とする。
(a)導電材の含量を異ならせた3つ以上の電極スラリーを準備する過程;及び
(b)電極集電体の表面に導電材の含量が多い電極スラリーから順次塗布し、乾燥して、電極合剤層を形成する過程;
を含んで製造することができ、前記過程(b)は、限定されないが、全体的に混合されないように、それぞれの電極スラリーを塗布した後、個別に乾燥過程を経るものであってもよい。
正極活物質としてLi1.2Ni0.2Mn0.5Co0.1O288重量%、導電材として天然黒鉛7重量%、バインダーとしてPVdF5重量%を溶剤であるNMPに入れてミキシング(mixing)して、第1正極スラリーを製造した。
第1正極スラリーのみを120μmの厚さで塗布した以外は、実施例1と同様の方法で正極及びリチウム二次電池を製造した。
第2正極スラリーのみを120μmの厚さで塗布した以外は、実施例1と同様の方法で正極及びリチウム二次電池を製造した。
第1正極スラリーを20μmの厚さのアルミニウム箔に60μmの厚さで塗布した後、圧延及び乾燥し、第2正極スラリーを第1正極スラリー上に60μmの厚さで塗布し、圧延及び乾燥して正極を製造した以外は、実施例1と同様の方法でリチウム二次電池を製造した。
実施例1及び比較例1〜3で製造した二次電池を2.5V〜4.4Vの電圧領域でレート(rate)テストを実施し、その結果を下記表1に示す。

Claims (22)
- 外部導線と電極活物質との間で電子を伝達する電極集電体、及び前記電極集電体上に順次塗布されている3層以上の電極合剤層を含み、
前記電極合剤層は、それぞれ電極活物質及び導電材を含み、
前記電極合剤層の形成方向を基準として、互いに隣接する電極合剤層のうち、相対的に集電体に近い側に位置する電極合剤層の導電材の含量が、相対的に集電体から遠い側に位置する電極合剤層の導電材の含量よりも多いことを特徴とする、多層構造の電極。 - 前記互いに隣接する電極合剤層の導電材の含量の差は、重量を基準として0.5%〜10%の範囲であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の多層構造の電極。
- 前記互いに隣接する電極合剤層の導電材の含量の差は、重量を基準として2%〜5%の範囲であることを特徴とする、請求項2に記載の多層構造の電極。
- 前記電極集電体に直接接する最内層電極合剤層の導電材の含量は、前記最内層電極合剤層に隣接する電極合剤層の導電材の含量よりも多い範囲において、最内層電極合剤層の全重量を基準として3重量%〜40重量%であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の多層構造の電極。
- 前記電極合剤層のうち、電極集電体から最も遠い側に位置する最外層電極合剤層の導電材の含量は、前記最外層電極合剤層に隣接する電極合剤層の導電材の含量よりも少ない範囲において、最外層電極合剤層の全重量を基準として1重量%〜10重量%であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の多層構造の電極。
- 前記互いに隣接する電極合剤層は、界面で互いに混合されずに境界面をなしていることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の多層構造の電極。
- 前記互いに隣接する電極合剤層は、界面で導電材が混入して濃度勾配(gradient)をなしていることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の多層構造の電極。
- 前記互いに隣接する電極合剤層のそれぞれに含まれている導電材は、電極集電体から遠ざかる方向にその含量が順次減少する濃度勾配をなしていることを特徴とする、請求項7に記載の多層構造の電極。
- 前記3層以上の電極合剤層の厚さは互いに同一であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の多層構造の電極。
- 前記3層以上の電極合剤層のうち2つ以上の電極合剤層の厚さは互いに異なることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の多層構造の電極。
- 前記3層以上の電極合剤層に含まれる電極活物質の種類は互いに同一であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の多層構造の電極。
- 前記3層以上の電極合剤層のうち2つ以上の電極合剤層に含まれる電極活物質の種類は互いに異なることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の多層構造の電極。
- 前記3層以上の電極合剤層に含まれる導電材の種類は互いに同一であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の多層構造の電極。
- 前記3層以上の電極合剤層のうち2つ以上の電極合剤層に含まれる導電材の種類は互いに異なることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の多層構造の電極。
- 前記3層以上の電極合剤層にはバインダーがさらに含まれていることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の多層構造の電極。
- 前記多層構造の電極は正極であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の多層構造の電極。
- 請求項1に記載の電極を製造する方法であって、
(a)導電材の含量を異ならせた3つ以上の電極スラリーを準備する過程と、
(b)電極集電体の表面に導電材の含量が多い電極スラリーから順次塗布し、乾燥して電極合剤層を形成する過程と
を含むことを特徴とする、電極の製造方法。 - 前記過程(b)は、それぞれの電極スラリーを塗布した後、個別に乾燥過程を経ることを特徴とする、請求項17に記載の電極の製造方法。
- 請求項1に記載の多層構造の電極を含むことを特徴とする、リチウム二次電池。
- 請求項19に記載のリチウム二次電池を単位電池として含むことを特徴とする、電池モジュール。
- 請求項20に記載の電池モジュールを電源として含むことを特徴とする、デバイス。
- 前記デバイスは、電気自動車、ハイブリッド電気自動車、プラグインハイブリッド電気自動車、または電力貯蔵用システムであることを特徴とする、請求項21に記載のデバイス。
