Description
また、密封装置がラビリンスシールである場合において、軸方向一方側の第一ラビリンス隙間の経路長よりも、軸方向他方側の第二ラビリンス隙間の経路長が長いのが好ましい。この場合、軸方向他方側の密封装置(ラビリンスシール)における密封性能を高めることができる。また、軸方向一方側及び他方側双方のラビリンス隙間の経路長を長くしないことで、軸受寸法が大きくなるのを防ぐことができる。
以下の説明において、軸方向の位置に関して「軸方向一方側」及び「軸方向他方側」という用語を用いる。軸方向一方側は図1では左側であり、軸方向他方側は図1では右側である。
また、図3に示すように、第一密封装置6の第一リップ部44は、芯金41に一部が固定されている本体部44aと、この本体部44aの内周側から径方向内側に突出している突出部44bとを有している。突出部44bのみが第一シール溝34に収容された状態となっている。図4に示すように、第二密封装置7の第二リップ部54は、芯金51に一部が固定されている本体部54aと、この本体部54aの内周側から径方向内側に突出している突出部54bとを有している。本体部54a及び突出部54bの双方が、第二シール溝35に収容された状態となっている。図4に示す第二ラビリンス隙間55の経路長の方が、図3に示す第一ラビリンス隙間45の経路長よりも長い。
なお、第一ラビリンス隙間45の経路長とは、図3に示す軸方向断面において、第一リップ部44と、第一内肩部31及び第一シール溝34と、が隙間を有して対向している範囲の当該隙間の長さと定義することができる。より具体的に説明すると、第一リップ部44の本体部44aの内周面並びに突出部44bの内周面及び側面と、これら内周面及び側面に直交する方向に存在する範囲の第一内肩部31及び第一シール溝34との間に形成される空間が、第一ラビリンス隙間45となり、その経路長とは、前記空間の、軸方向断面における第一リップ部44の長さと、軸方向断面における第一シール溝34の長さとの平均値であると定義することができる。
また、第二ラビリンス隙間55の経路長とは、図4に示す軸方向断面において、第二リップ部54と第二シール溝35とが隙間を有して対向している範囲の当該隙間の長さと定義することができる。より具体的に説明すると、第二リップ部54の本体部54aの内周面並びに端部54cの側面並びに突出部54bの内周面及び側面と、これら内周面及び側面に直交する方向に存在する範囲の第二シール溝35との間に形成される空間が、第二ラビリンス隙間55となり、その経路長とは、前記空間の、軸方向断面における第二リップ部54の長さと、軸方向断面における第二シール溝35の長さとの平均値であると定義することができる。
前記実施形態では、軸受の回転によりグリースが軸方向一方側から他方側へ向かう作用が発生する要因として、(1)内輪3の肩おとし内輪の形状、(2)外輪2の肩おとし外輪の形状、及び、(3)玉4のスピン、を説明した。本発明は、これら(1)(2)(3)のうちの少なくとも一つの要因によってグリースが軸方向一方側から他方側へ向かう作用が発生する転がり軸受に適用可能である。

Claims (9)
- 内輪、外輪、前記内輪と前記外輪との間に設けられている複数の転動体、前記転動体を保持する保持器、及び前記内輪と前記外輪との間に形成されている環状空間の軸方向一方側及び軸方向他方側にそれぞれ設けられている密封装置を備え、前記環状空間においてグリースが軸方向一方側から他方側へ向かう作用が生じる転がり軸受であって、
前記保持器は、軸方向一方側に設けられている環状体と、当該環状体から軸方向他方側に延びて設けられている複数のつのと、を有し、前記環状体の軸方向他方側であって周方向で隣り合う前記つのの間が前記転動体を収容するポケットであり、当該ポケットは軸方向他方側に向かって開口している、転がり軸受。 - 軸方向一方側及び軸方向他方側それぞれの前記密封装置はラビリンスシールである、請求項1に記載の転がり軸受。
- 軸方向一方側の第一ラビリンス隙間の経路長よりも、軸方向他方側の第二ラビリンス隙間の経路長が長い、請求項2に記載の転がり軸受。
- 軸方向一方側における前記密封装置による密封位置と前記転動体との間の軸方向寸法よりも、軸方向他方側における前記密封装置による密封位置と前記転動体との間の軸方向寸法が小さい、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の転がり軸受。
- 前記つのの軸方向他方側の端部は、前記転動体の軸方向他方側の端部位置よりも、軸方向一方側に位置している、請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の転がり軸受。
- dmn値が100万以上であり200万以下の高速回転環境下で使用される、請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載の転がり軸受。
- 前記保持器の外周側の一部が、前記外輪の内周側の一部に接触可能である、請求項1〜6のいずれか一項に記載の転がり軸受。
