Claims (15)
- 積層体を備えるリチウム−硫黄電気化学電池であって、前記積層体は、リチウム金属フォイル又はリチウム合金フォイルの層を有するリチウム負極と、活性硫黄材料を有する正極と、前記リチウム負極と前記正極との間に配置した多孔質のセパレータと、及び電解質と、を備え、前記積層体はジグザグ形態となるよう折り畳み、また前記正極は、前記積層体において前記リチウム負極に対してオフセットさせ、このオフセットは、前記正極に対して前記積層体の一方の側辺からアクセスでき、前記リチウム負極に対して前記積層体の反対側の側辺からアクセスできるように行う、電池。
- 請求項1記載の電池において、前記正極は、前記積層体の長手方向軸線に直交する方向に前記リチウム負極に対してオフセットさせる、電池。
- 請求項1又は2記載の電池において、前記リチウム金属フォイル又はリチウム合金フォイルの層は、前記折り畳んだ積層体の端部には存在させない、電池。
- 請求項1〜3のうちいずれか一項記載の電池において、前記正極は、活性硫黄材料及び導電性材料の混合物であって、電流コレクタ上に堆積させた該混合物を有する層を備える、電池。
- 請求項4記載の電池において、前記電流コレクタは、金属フォイルにより形成する、電池。
- 請求項1〜5のうちいずれか一項記載の電池において、さらに、他のリチウム負極及び他の多孔質のセパレータを備え、前記正極を前記リチウム負極相互間に配置し、また多孔質セパレータを前記正極と各リチウム負極との間に配置し、また前記リチウム負極は、双方のリチウム負極が前記折り畳んだ積層体の前記反対側の側辺又は端部からアクセスできるよう配置した、電池。
- リチウム−硫黄電池を製造する方法であって、前記方法は、
i) リチウム金属フォイル又はリチウム合金フォイルの層を有するリチウム負極、ii) 多孔質のセパレータ、iii) 電解質、及びiv) 活性硫黄材料を有する正極の積層体を形成する積層体形成ステップであって、前記セパレータは前記リチウム負極と前記正極との間に配置し、前記正極は、前記積層体において前記リチウム負極に対してオフセットさせ、このオフセットは、前記正極に対して前記積層体の一方の側辺からアクセスでき、前記リチウム負極に対して前記積層体の反対側の側辺からアクセスできるように行う、該積層体形成ステップと、及び
前記積層体をジグザグ形態に折り畳むステップと、
を備える、方法。 - 請求項7記載の方法において、前記積層体は、さらに、他のリチウム負極及び電解質を含む他の多孔質のセパレータを備え、前記正極を前記リチウム負極相互間に配置し、また多孔質セパレータを前記正極と各リチウム負極との間に配置し、また前記リチウム負極は、双方のリチウム負極が前記積層体の前記反対側の側辺からアクセスできるよう配置した、方法。
- 請求項7又は8記載の方法において、前記方法は、
活性硫黄材料を有する正極をウェブ材料の流れとして準備するステップと、
電解質を前記正極に塗布するステップと、
ウェブ材料の流れとして前記正極上に前記多孔質セパレータをラミネートするセパレータ積層ステップと、及び
ウェブ材料の流れとして前記セパレータ上に前記リチウム負極をラミネートし、ウェブ材料の流れとして前記積層体を形成するリチウム負極積層ステップであり、前記リチウム負極材料のウェブ及び正極材料のウェブは、前記流れの方向に直交する方向に互いに相対的にオフセットさせる、該リチウム負極積層ステップと、
を備え、
前記電解質は、前記多孔質セパレータを前記正極上にラミネートする前又は後に前記正極に塗布する、方法。 - 請求項9記載の方法において、さらに、積層材料のウェブをジグザグ形態に折り畳むステップと、及び前記積層材料を所定長さに切断するステップとを備える、方法。
- 請求項9又は10記載の方法において、前記負極のウェブ材料は、リチウム金属フォイル又はリチウム合金フォイルの不連続な層を有し、また前記積層体を前記層の不連続部分に沿って切断する、方法。
- 請求項11記載の方法において、前記リチウム負極は、初期的に基板上に支持した、リチウム金属フォイル又はリチウム合金フォイルの層を有する負極前駆体として設け、前記前駆体をウェブ材料として設け、前記ウェブ材料の長さに沿う規則的な間隔で前記リチウム金属フォイル又はリチウム合金フォイルの層の区域を前記基板から除去する、方法。
- 請求項13記載の方法において、前記区域は、前記リチウム負極を前記セパレータ上にラミネートする前に除去する、方法。
- 請求項12又は13記載の方法において、前記区域は、前記前駆体を1対のローラ間に通過させることによって除去するものとし、前記ローラ対のうち一方のローラには、前記リチウム金属フォイル又はリチウム合金フォイルの層の区域を前記基板から切断又は擦り取るよう構成したカッタを設ける、方法。
- 請求項12〜14のうちいずれか一項記載の方法において、さらに、前記負極前駆体の基板を前記積層体から除去するステップを備える、方法。
