Description
・高い伝導率、
・広い温度範囲にわたり、液体又はゲル(ゲル電解質用の)状態に留まる能力、
・電極活物質に対する高い安定性、
・化学的及び電気化学的安定性(広い電気化学的安定範囲)、
・火災安全性及び爆発安全性、
・無毒性
である。
アノード活物質は、アルカリ金属、例えばリチウムもしくはナトリウム、もしくは他の活物質又は組成物を含んでよい。
1)電解質組成物は、非プロトン性非水溶媒、リチウム又は他のアルカリ金属塩及び場合により変性剤を含む。
2)前記塩は、個々の塩又は複数の異なる塩であってよい。
3)前記塩又は複数の塩は、個々の極性非プロトン性溶媒又は溶媒混合物に溶解される。
4)前記電解質組成物は、リチウム塩又は塩混合物の濃度が、溶媒又は溶媒混合物中に使用される塩の飽和溶液の濃度に等しい(又は近似する)ように選択される。
金属リチウムホイル製アノードと、多孔性セパレーターCelgard(登録商標)2500(Celgard Inc.の登録商標、Celgard K.K.,東京、日本から市販、Celgard Inc.South Lakes,North Carolina USAからも市販)と、減極剤としての硫黄元素(70重量%)、炭素−導電性添加剤(10重量%)Ketjenblack(登録商標)EC−600JD(Akzo Nobel Polymer Chemicals BV,オランダから市販)及び結着剤(分子量4000000のポリエチレンオキシド、20重量%)を含む硫黄カソードとをアセンブルして、リチウム−硫黄セルを製造した。硫黄カソードは、自動フィルムアプリケーターElcometer(登録商標)SPRLにより、電流コレクタ兼基材である、導電性カーボンで被覆されたアルミニウムホイル(厚さ18μm:Inteli Coat(登録商標),South Hadley,Mass.から市販)の片側上に溶着させた。カソードの比表面容量は、1mAh/cm2であった。組み立てられたセルに、スルホラン中の0.1MLiClO4溶液を含む電解質を充填した。セルを組み立てかつ充填する全ての段階は、「Jacomex Type BS531」グローブボックス中で実施した。セルは、温度25℃、充電及び放電レート0.25Cでサイクルを行った。サイクリングの間の、セルの充電及び放電容量の変化は、図1に示す。
リチウム−硫黄セルを、例1に記載のようにして製造するが、今回は組み立てたセルにスルホラン中のLiClO4の1M溶液を含む電解質を充填した。セルは、温度25℃、充電及び放電レート0.25Cでサイクルを行った。サイクリングの間の、セルの充電及び放電容量の変化は、図3に示す。
リチウム−硫黄セルを、例1に記載のようにして製造するが、今回は組み立てたセルに、本発明の実施形態により、スルホラン中のLiClO4の2M飽和溶液を含む電解質を充填した。セルは、温度25℃、充電及び放電レート0.25Cでサイクルを行った。サイクリングの間の、セルの充電及び放電容量の変化は、図5に示す。
リチウム−硫黄セルを、例1に記載のようにして製造するが、今回は組み立てたセルに、メチルプロピルスルホン中のLiClO4の0.1M溶液を含む電解質を充填した。セルは、温度25℃、充電及び放電レート0.25Cでサイクルを行った。サイクリングの間の、セルの充電及び放電容量の変化は、図7に示す。
リチウム−硫黄セルを、例1に記載のようにして製造するが、今回は組み立てたセルに、メチルプロピルスルホン中のLiClO4の1.7M溶液(飽和溶液に近接した濃度)を含む電解質を充填した。セルは、温度25℃、充電及び放電レート0.25Cでサイクルを行った。サイクリングの間の、セルの充電及び放電容量の変化は、図9に示す。
Claims (9)
- リチウム−硫黄電池であって、
イオンを供与するためのアノード活物質を含有する負極(アノード)と、
硫黄又は有機硫黄もしくは無機硫黄化合物を含むカソード活物質を含有する正極(カソード)と、
前記リチウム−硫黄電池の充放電サイクルの間に、前記負極からのイオンがそこを通って前記正極へと移動する液体又はゲル電解質溶液を含有する中間セパレーター要素とを含み、
前記液体又はゲル電解質溶液が、非水性非プロトン性溶媒と、リチウム塩とを含有するものであり、
前記リチウム塩が、六フルオロリン酸リチウム(LiPF6)、六フルオロヒ酸リチウム(LiAsF6)、過塩素酸リチウム(LiClO4)、リチウムビス(トリフルオロメタンスルホニル)イミド(LiN(CF3SO2)2)、およびトリフルオロスルホン酸リチウム(LiCF3SO3)からなる群から選択され、
前記液体又はゲル電解質溶液における前記リチウム塩の濃度が、前記非水性非プロトン性溶媒に対する飽和濃度の少なくとも90%である、電池。 - 前記非水性非プロトン性溶媒が、テトラヒドロフラン、2−メチルテトラヒドロフラン、炭酸ジメチル、炭酸ジエチル、炭酸エチルメチル、炭酸メチルプロピル、プロピオン酸メチルプロピル、プロピオン酸エチルプロピル、酢酸メチル、酢酸エチル、酢酸プロピル、ジメトキシエタン、1,3−ジオキサラン、ジグライム(2−メトキシエチルエーテル)、テトラグライム、炭酸エチレン、炭酸プロピレン、γ−ブチロラクトン、スルホラン及び少なくとも1つのスルホンを含む群から選択される請求項1に記載の電池。
- 前記液体又はゲル電解質溶液における前記リチウム塩の濃度が、その飽和濃度の少なくとも95%である請求項1又は2に記載の電池。
- 前記液体又はゲル電解質溶液における前記リチウム塩の濃度が、その飽和濃度の少なくとも99%である請求項1乃至3のいずれか1項に記載の電池。
- 前記硫黄を含有するカソード活物質が、硫黄元素、リチウムポリスルフィド(Li2Sn(n≧1))、無機硫黄及び有機硫黄化合物(オリゴマー及びポリマー化合物を含む)並びにこれらの混合物を含む群から選択される請求項1乃至4のいずれか1項に記載の電池。
- 前記硫黄を含有するカソード活物質が、結着剤と導電材料を更に含む請求項1乃至5のいずれか1項に記載の電池。
- 前記アノード活物質が、金属リチウム、リチウム合金、金属ナトリウム、ナトリウム合金、アルカリ金属又はその合金、金属粉末、アルカリ金属−炭素及びアルカリ金属−グラファイト層間物質、アルカリ金属イオンとの酸化還元を可逆的に遂行できる化合物並びにこれらの混合物を含む群から選択される請求項1乃至6のいずれか1項に記載の電池。
- 前記非水性非プロトン性溶媒が、スルホランである請求項1に記載の電池。
- 前記非水性非プロトン性溶媒が、少なくとも1つのスルホンである請求項1に記載の電池。
