Abstract
Description
このような炭素材、リチウム金属、金属化合物の平均粒径は、15ないし30μmであり得るが、特にこれらに限定されることはない。
[実施例1−1]
コア部形成物質としてリチウム複合酸化物(LiNixCoyMnzO2)100重量部、シェル部形成物質として平均粒径が約800nmであるLiFePO4 1.5重量部、伝導性炭素としてSuper‐P 0.3重量部、及び高分子としてPVdF 0.5重量部を用意し、それらを乾式コーティング後に熱処理する方法で、コア‐シェル型のリチウム金属酸化物からなる正極活物質を製造した。
乾式コーティング後に熱処理する方法の代わりに、乾式コーティングのみを実施した点を除き、実施例1−1と同様の方法で正極活物質及び負極活物質を製造した。
シェル部形成物質としてLiFePO4 2.0重量部、Super‐P 0.3重量部、TiO2 0.1重量部、及びPVdF 1.0重量部を使用した点を除き、実施例1−1と同様の方法で正極活物質を製造し、また、実施例1−1と同様の方法で負極活物質を製造した。
乾式コーティング後に熱処理する方法の代わりに、乾式コーティングのみを実施した点を除き、実施例1−3と同様の方法で正極活物質を製造し、また、実施例1−1と同様の方法で負極活物質を製造した。

シェル部形成物質としてLi4Ti5O12 2.0重量部、Super‐P 0.5重量部、TiO2 0.1重量部、及びPVdF 2.0重量部を使用した点を除き、実施例1−1と同様の方法で負極活物質を製造し、また、実施例1−1と同様の方法で正極活物質を製造した。
[実施例2−1]
実施例1−1で得られた正極活物質と伝導性を付与するための伝導性カーボンと結着剤としてPVdFとを93/3/4の重量比で用意し、NMP(N‐Methyl Pyrrolidone)と混合して、粘度が3500cPa(25℃)以下のスラリーを得た。それをアルミニウム箔の上にコーティングして乾燥させた後、圧延して正極を製造した。
実施例1−2で製造された正極活物質及び負極活物質を用いてそれぞれ正極及び負極を製造した点を除き、実施例2−1と同様の方法でリチウム二次電池を製造した。
実施例1−3で製造された正極活物質及び負極活物質を用いてそれぞれ正極及び負極を製造した点を除き、実施例2−1と同様の方法でリチウム二次電池を製造した。
実施例1−4で製造された正極活物質及び負極活物質を用いてそれぞれ正極及び負極を製造した点を除き、実施例2−1と同様の方法でリチウム二次電池を製造した。
実施例1−5で製造された正極活物質及び負極活物質を用いてそれぞれ正極及び負極を製造した点を除き、実施例2−1と同様の方法でリチウム二次電池を製造した。
実施例1−6で製造された正極活物質及び負極活物質を用いてそれぞれ正極及び負極を製造した点を除き、実施例2−1と同様の方法でリチウム二次電池を製造した。
正極活物質としてLiNixCoyMnzO2を単独で使用して正極を製造し、負極活物質としてメソフェーズ黒鉛粉末(MGP)を単独で使用して負極を製造した点を除き、実施例2−1と同様の方法でリチウム二次電池を製造した。
正極活物質のコア部形成物質としてLiNixCoyMnzO2 100重量部を、シェル部形成物質としてPVdF 0.5重量部を使用し、負極活物質のコア部形成物質としてメソフェーズ黒鉛粉末(MGP)100重量部を、シェル部形成物質としてPVdF 1.0重量部を使用した点を除き、実施例1−1と同様の方法で正極活物質及び負極活物質をそれぞれ製造した。
このように製造された正極活物質及び負極活物質を使用した点を除き、実施例2−1と同様の方法でリチウム二次電池を製造した。
正極活物質のコア部形成物質としてLiNixCoyMnzO2 100重量部、を、シェル部形成物質としてLiFePO4 2.0重量部及びSuper‐P 0.3重量部を使用し、負極活物質のコア部形成物質としてメソフェーズ黒鉛粉末(MGP)100重量部、及びシェル部形成物質としてLi4Ti5O12 2.0重量部及びSuper‐P 0.5重量部を使用した点、並びに熱処理工程を省いたことを除き、実施例1−1と同様の方法で正極活物質及び負極活物質をそれぞれ製造した。
このように製造された正極活物質及び負極活物質を使用した点を除き、実施例2−1と同様の方法でリチウム二次電池を製造した。
1.比表面積特性
実施例1−1で製造され、比較例1及び比較例3で使用された正極活物質及び負極活物質の比表面積を、BET測定装備(Micromeritics社製、TriStarII3020)を用いて測定し、その結果を下記の表1に示した。
実施例2−1ないし2−6、比較例1ないし3によって製造されたリチウム二次電池に対し、充放電サイクル装置を用いて初期比容量、初期効率、放電特性、高温におけるサイクル特性、及び高温長期保存試験を評価し、その結果を表2及び表3、図2ないし図4に示した。
Claims (14)
- リチウム含有還移金属酸化物、炭素材、リチウム金属、及び金属化合物からなる群より選択された1種または2種以上の混合物から形成されたコア部;及び
前記コア部の表面に形成され、リチウム金属酸化物粒子と高分子とを含むシェル部を備える電極活物質。 - 前記コア部のリチウム含有還移金属酸化物が、LiCoO2、LiNiO2、LiMnO2、LiMn2O4、Li(NiaCobMnc)O2(0<a<1、0<b<1、0<c<1、a+b+c=1)、LiNi1−yCoyO2、LiCo1−yMnyO2、LiNi1−yMnyO2(0≦y<1)、Li(NiaCobMnc)O4(0<a<2、0<b<2、0<c<2、a+b+c=2)、LiMn2−zNizO4、及びLiMn2−zCozO4(0<z<2)からなる群より選択されるいずれか一つまたはこれらのうち2種以上の混合物であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極活物質。
- 前記炭素材が、軟質炭素、硬質炭素、天然黒鉛、キッシュ黒鉛、熱分解炭素、液晶ピッチ系炭素繊維、メソフェーズ黒鉛粉末、炭素微小球体、液晶ピッチ、及び石油または石炭系コークスからなる群より選択されるいずれか一つまたはこれらのうち2種以上の混合物であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極活物質。
- 前記リチウム金属酸化物粒子が、リン酸鉄リチウム、リン酸マンガンリチウム、リン酸マンガン鉄リチウム、リチウムチタン酸化物、及びリチウムバナジウム酸化物からなる群より選択されるいずれか一つまたはこれらのうち2種以上の混合物の粒子であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極活物質。
- 前記金属化合物が、Si、Ge、Sn、Pb、P、Sb、Bi、Al、Ga、In、Ti、Mn、Fe、Co、Ni、Cu、Zn、Ag、Mg、Sr、及びBaからなる群より選択された1種以上の金属元素を含む化合物またはこれらの混合物であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極活物質。
- 前記シェル部が、前記コア部表面に形成されたリチウム金属酸化物粒子層と、前記リチウム金属酸化物粒子層の表面にコーティングされた高分子層とを含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極活物質。
- 前記シェル部が、前記コア部表面に形成された高分子及びリチウム金属酸化物粒子層;並びに前記高分子とリチウム金属酸化物粒子層の表面にコーティングされた高分子層を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極活物質。
- 前記高分子が、PVdF、PVdF‐co‐HFP、PVA、PTF、SBR、PEO、PPO、PAN、及びPVCからなる群より選択されるいずれか一つまたは2種以上の混合物であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極活物質。
- 前記リチウム金属酸化物粒子の含量が、コア部100重量部を基準に0.5ないし5.0重量部であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極活物質。
- 前記高分子の含量が、コア部100重量部を基準に0.1ないし3.0重量部であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極活物質。
- 前記リチウム金属酸化物粒子の平均粒径が、1μm以下であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極活物質。
- 前記シェル部が、金属酸化物、伝導性炭素、またはこれらの混合物を更に含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極活物質。
- 電極集電体、及び当該電極集電体の少なくとも一面に形成され、電極活物質を含む電極活物質層を備えたリチウム二次電池の電極において、
前記電極活物質が、請求項1ないし請求項12のうちいずれか一項に記載の電極活物質であることを特徴とするリチウム二次電池用電極。 - 正極、負極、前記正極と前記負極との間に介在されたセパレータ、及び電解液を備えるリチウム二次電池において、前記正極及び前記負極の1種以上が請求項13に記載の電極であることを特徴とするリチウム二次電池。
