[0046] 図1Aは、拡張現実ディスプレイにおいて合焦改良を行うシステム10の一実施形態のコンポーネント例を示すブロック図である。システム10は、ニアアイ頭部装着ディスプレイ・デバイス2のような、ワイヤ6によって処理ユニット4と通信可能な透過ディスプレイ・デバイスを含む。他の実施形態では、頭部装着ディスプレイ・デバイス2は処理ユニット4とワイヤレス通信によって通信する。頭部装着ディスプレイ・デバイス2は、一実施形態では、フレーム115におけるめがねの形状となっており、フレーム115がユーザーの頭部に装着され、ユーザーがディスプレイを透視しこれによってユーザーの前方にある空間の実際の直接視(direct view)を有することができるようになっている。「実際の直接視」という用語の使用は、作られた物体の画像表現を見るのではなく、人間の目で直接実世界の物体を見る能力を指す。例えば、ガラスを通して室内を見ると、ユーザーはその部屋の実際の直接視を有することができ、一方テレビジョンにおいて部屋のビデオを見ることは、その部屋の実際の直接視ではない。頭部装着ディスプレイ・デバイス2のこれ以上の詳細については、以下で説明する。

Claims (10)
- 物体の焦点を改良する拡張現実システムであって、
ユーザーによって透視されるように位置付けられた可変焦点レンズを含む透視ディスプレイ・デバイスと、
前記透視ディスプレイ・デバイスに取り付けられ、少なくとも1つの目に対して表示用仮想画像を生成するマイクロディスプレイ・アセンブリーと、
ソフトウェアおよびデーターを格納するメモリーと、
ソフトウェアの制御の下で、現在のユーザーの焦点領域を判定するプロセッサーであって、前記メモリーにアクセスすることができ、前記マイクロディスプレイ・アセンブリーに通信可能に結合された、プロセッサーと、
前記プロセッサーの制御の下で、前記現在のユーザーの焦点領域において前記可変焦点レンズを合焦する焦点領域調節ユニットと、
を含み、
前記プロセッサーが、ソフトウェアの制御の下で、前記焦点領域調節ユニットを制御することによって、前記ユーザーの視野内において、1つ以上の仮想物体をその実世界焦点距離において、前記マイクロディスプレイに表示させる、拡張現実システム。 - 請求項1記載のシステムにおいて、
前記可変焦点レンズが液体レンズであり、
前記焦点領域調節ユニットが、前記液体レンズの曲率半径を調節して、前記レンズの焦点長が前記現在のユーザーの焦点領域に入るように調節することによって、前記可変焦点レンズを合焦する、システム。 - 請求項1記載のシステムにおいて、更に、
前記プロセッサーが、前記焦点領域において焦点までの焦点距離を判定し、
前記プロセッサーが、前記焦点距離を近似する焦点長に対して、前記可変焦点レンズに調節値を選択し、
前記焦点領域調節ユニットが、前記選択された調節値に基づいて、前記可変焦点レンズを調節する、システム。 - 物体の焦点を改良する拡張現実システムであって、
ユーザーによって透視されるように位置付けられた可変焦点レンズを含む透視ディスプレイ・デバイスと、
前記透視ディスプレイ・デバイスに取り付けられ、少なくとも1つの目に対して表示用仮想画像を生成するマイクロディスプレイ・アセンブリーと、
ソフトウェアおよびデーターを格納するメモリーと、
ソフトウェアの制御の下で、ズーム機構および現在のユーザーの焦点領域に基づいて焦点距離を判定するプロセッサーであって、前記メモリーにアクセスすることができ、前記マイクロディスプレイ・アセンブリーに通信可能に結合された、プロセッサーと、
前記可変焦点レンズを、ほぼ前記判定された焦点距離に合焦する焦点領域調節ユニットと、
を含む、拡張現実システム。 - 請求項4記載のシステムにおいて、ソフトウェアの制御の下で、ズーム機構および現在のユーザーの焦点領域に基づいて焦点距離を判定する前記プロセッサーが、更に、
前記プロセッサーが、前記ズーム機構を要求するユーザー入力を受け、
前記プロセッサーが、前記要求されたズーム機構および前記現在の焦点領域に基づいて、焦点距離を判定し、
前記プロセッサーが、ほぼ前記焦点距離となる焦点長に対して、前記可変焦点レンズに調節値を選択し、
前記焦点領域調節ユニットが、前記選択された調節値に基づいて、前記可変焦点レンズを調節する、
ことを含む、システム。 - 請求項4記載のシステムにおいて、
前記可変焦点レンズが液体レンズであり、
前記焦点領域調節ユニットが、前記液体レンズの曲率半径を調節して、ほぼ前記ズーム機構に対して判定された前記焦点距離となるように、前記レンズの焦点長を調節することによって、前記可変焦点レンズを合焦する、システム。 - 拡張現実システムにおいて、物体の焦点を改良する方法であって、
実物体を含む空間の三次元モデルにおいてユーザーの視野を判定するステップと、
現在のユーザーの焦点領域を判定するステップと、
前記現在のユーザーの焦点領域において合焦するように、少なくとも1つの目に対する可変焦点レンズを自動的に調節するステップであって、前記可変焦点レンズが、前記少なくとも1つの目によって透視されるように位置付けられた、ステップと、
前記ユーザーの視野内において、仮想物体をその実世界焦点距離に表示するステップと、
前記ユーザーの視野において前記物体のうちの1つの物体の画像を視覚的に強調するステップと、
を含む、方法。 - 請求項7記載の方法において、前記現在のユーザーの焦点領域において合焦するように、少なくとも1つの目に対する可変焦点レンズを自動的に調節するステップが、更に、

前記ユーザーの視野において、強調判断基準を満たす実世界物体を特定し、
前記強調判断基準に基づいて、強調技法を選択し、
前記選択された強調技法によって使用される実物体の画像データーを選択し、
前記選択された強調技法を実行して、仮想画像を生成し、
前記三次元モデルに基づいて、前記仮想画像の表示を前記実物体に一致させることによって、
前記ユーザーの視野において前記実物体を視覚的に強調するステップを含む、方法。
