Abstract
Description

(1.発明の分野)
本発明は、概して、衝撃波の治療用途に関する。より具体的には、限定ではなく、本発明は、治療用衝撃波を発生させるための装置(治療用途を有する衝撃波)に関する。
衝撃波は、ある医療および審美療法において使用されてもよい。1980年代前半以降、衝撃波は、パルスが、腎臓結石の破砕のための衝撃波面を形成するように使用され得る、体外結石破砕術の形態において使用されている。砕石術における衝撃波源は、典型的には、試験電極間の電気エネルギーの放電によって、発生される。
用語「連結される(coupled)」とは、接続された状態として定義されるが、必ずしも、直接ではなく、必ずしも、機械的にではない。すなわち、「連結される」2つの物品は、相互に一体型であってもよい。用語「a」および「an」は、本開示が、別様に、明示的に要求しない限り、1つ以上として定義される。用語「実質的に」、「約」、および「およそ」は、大部分として定義されるが、当業者によって理解されるように、必ずしも、規定されるもの全体ではない。

Claims (52)
- 治療用衝撃波を発生させるための装置であって、
1MHzから1000MHzの少なくとも1つの周波数を有する音波を放出するように構成される、音波発生器と、
前記音波発生器に連結される、衝撃波筐体と、
前記衝撃波筐体内に配置される、衝撃波媒体と、
を備え、前記装置は、前記音波発生器が、音波を放出する場合、前記音波の少なくとも一部が、前記衝撃波媒体を通って伝わり、1つ以上の衝撃波を形成するように構成される、装置。 - 前記衝撃波媒体は、前記衝撃波筐体と一体型である、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記衝撃波筐体および衝撃波媒体は、シリコーンを含む、請求項2に記載の装置。
- 前記衝撃波媒体は、1つ以上の泡を含む、請求項2〜3のいずれかに記載の装置。
- 前記衝撃波筐体は、チャンバを画定し、前記衝撃波媒体は、前記チャンバ内に配置される、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記衝撃波媒体は、流体を含む、請求項5に記載の装置。
- 前記衝撃波媒体は、ゲルを含む、請求項6に記載の装置。
- 前記衝撃波媒体は、液体を含む、請求項7に記載の装置。
- 前記衝撃波媒体は、前記音波発生器からの音波の存在下、前記衝撃波媒体が、非線形特性を呈するように構成される、請求項5〜8のいずれかに記載の装置。
- 前記衝撃波媒体は、泡、固体粒子、または泡および固体粒子の組み合わせのうちの1つ以上を含む、請求項5〜9のいずれかに記載の装置。
- 前記衝撃波媒体は、水、グリセリン、ポリ(エチレングリコール)(PEG)、プロピレングリコール、シリコーン油、アルコール、またはこれらのうちの2つ以上の組み合わせのうちの1つ以上を含む、請求項5〜10のいずれかに記載の装置。
- 前記衝撃波筐体は、前記音波発生器に連結された入射端部と、前記音波発生器から延在する出射端部と、を有する、チャンバを画定し、前記衝撃波筐体は、前記チャンバの出射端部を被覆する端部キャップを含む、請求項1および5〜11のいずれかに記載の装置。
- 前記チャンバは、円形断面形状を有する、請求項12に記載の装置。
- 前記チャンバは、長方形断面形状を有する、請求項12に記載の装置。
- 前記チャンバは、正方形断面形状を有する、請求項14に記載の装置。
- 前記チャンバは、楕円断面形状を有する、請求項12に記載の装置。
- 前記チャンバは、三角形断面形状を有する、請求項12に記載の装置。
- 前記端部キャップは、前記衝撃波チャンバの出射端部から衝撃波を出射させるように構成される、請求項12〜17のいずれかに記載の装置。
- 前記端部キャップは、前記端部キャップから出射する衝撃波の減衰が、20%未満となるように構成される、請求項18に記載の装置。
- 前記端部キャップは、ポリマー、ヒドロゲル、プラスチック、またはシリコーンのうちの少なくとも1つを含む、請求項19に記載の装置。
- 前記チャンバの入射端部は、少なくとも、前記音波発生器の対応する横方向外部寸法と同程度に大きい横方向内部寸法を有する、請求項12〜20のいずれかに記載の装置。
- 前記チャンバは、前記入射端部と前記出射端部との間に、実質的に一定の断面を有する、請求項21に記載の装置。
- 前記チャンバは、前記入射端部と前記出射端部との間に、変化する断面を有する、請求項21に記載の装置。
- 前記衝撃波筐体は、音波が、前記衝撃波チャンバ内から、前記衝撃波筐体上に入射する場合、前記衝撃波筐体が、前記入射音波の少なくとも一部を前記衝撃波チャンバ内に反射して戻すように構成される、請求項21〜23のいずれかに記載の装置。
- 前記音波発生器から前記チャンバの出射端部までの距離は、前記チャンバの少なくとも1つの内部横方向寸法の100から1000%である、請求項12〜23のいずれかに記載の装置。
- 前記音波発生器から前記チャンバの出射端部までの距離は、前記チャンバの最小内部横方向寸法の100から1000%である、請求項25に記載の装置。
- 前記音波発生器から前記チャンバの出射端部までの距離は、前記チャンバの少なくとも1つの内部横方向寸法の300から900%である、請求項25に記載の装置。
- 前記音波発生器から前記チャンバの出射端部までの距離は、前記チャンバの少なくとも1つの内部横方向寸法の400から800%である、請求項27に記載の装置。
- 前記音波発生器は、超音波ヘッドを備える、請求項1〜29のいずれかに記載の装置。

- 前記コントローラは、前記音波発生器を作動させ、断続的オン-オフシーケンスにおいて音波を放出させるように構成される、請求項33〜34のいずれかに記載の装置。
- 前記コントローラは、前記音波発生器を作動させ、周期的オン-オフシーケンスにおいて音波を放出させるように構成される、請求項33〜36のいずれかに記載の装置。
- 前記音波発生器は、第1の音波発生器であって、前記装置はさらに、
1MHzから1000MHzの少なくとも1つの周波数を有する音波を放出するように構成される、第2の音波発生器を備え、
前記衝撃波筐体はまた、前記第2の音波発生器にも連結され、
前記装置は、前記第2の音波発生器が、音波を放出する場合、前記音波の少なくとも一部が、前記衝撃波媒体を通って伝わり、1つ以上の衝撃波を形成するように構成され、
前記コントローラはまた、前記第2の音波発生器にも連結され、第2の前記音波発生器を作動させて音波を放出させるように構成される、
請求項33〜37のいずれかに記載の装置。 - 前記コントローラは、前記第2の音波発生器から放出される音波が、前記第1の音波発生器から放出される波から位相がずれるように、前記第1および第2の音波発生器を作動させるように構成される、請求項38に記載の装置。
- 前記装置は、50から1000ワット/平方センチメートル(W/cm2)の強度を有する衝撃波を発生するように構成される、請求項1〜34のいずれかに記載の装置。
- 前記装置は、100から500W/cm2の強度を有する衝撃波を発生するように構成される、請求項40に記載の装置。
- 前記装置は、1分間あたり100以上の衝撃波を発生するように構成される、請求項1〜41のいずれかに記載の装置。
- 前記装置は、1分間あたり500以上の衝撃波を発生するように構成される、請求項42に記載の装置。
- 前記装置は、1分間あたり1000以上の衝撃波を発生するように構成される、請求項43に記載の装置。
- 前記装置は、長さ3フィート、幅2フィート、および高さ2フィートを有するボックス内に適合するように構成される、請求項1〜44のいずれかに記載の装置。
- 前記装置は、長さ3フィート、幅1フィート、および高さ1フィートを有するボックス内に適合するように構成される、請求項45に記載の装置。

- 治療用衝撃波を発生させる方法であって、
請求項1〜48のいずれかの装置を提供するステップと、
前記装置を作動させて1つ以上の衝撃波を発生させるステップと、
を含む、方法。 - 少なくとも1つの衝撃波が、組織に入射するように、患者の組織に隣接して、前記装置を配置するステップをさらに含む、請求項49に記載の方法。
- 前記組織は、前記患者の顔の皮膚組織を含む、請求項50に記載の方法。
- 治療用衝撃波を発生させる方法であって、
音波発生器を作動させて、1MHzから1000MHzの少なくとも1つの周波数を有する音波を放出させ、前記音波の少なくとも一部が、衝撃波筐体内に配置された衝撃波媒体を通って伝わり、1つ以上の衝撃波を形成するようにするステップを含む、方法。
