Abstract
【解決手段】分子間のエネルギー移動機構の一つであるフェルスター機構に注目し、エネルギーを与える側の分子の発光波長と、エネルギーを受け取る側の分子の吸収スペクトルに波長の4乗を掛け合わせたグラフにおける最も長波長側の極大を有するピークとを重ね合わせることによって上記フェルスター機構におけるエネルギー移動を効率よく可能とする。

Description
まず、本発明の一態様の発光素子の動作原理について説明する。本発明の主旨は、第1のりん光性化合物と、該第1のりん光性化合物よりも長波長の発光を示す第2のりん光性化合物を用い、第1のりん光性化合物及び第2のりん光性化合物の両方を効率良く発光させることにより、高効率な多色発光素子を得るというものである。
本実施の形態では実施の形態1で説明した発光素子の詳細な構造の例について図1を用いて以下に説明する。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態1及び実施の形態2に記載の発光素子を用いた発光装置について説明する。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態1及び実施の形態2に記載の発光素子を照明装置として用いる例を図8を参照しながら説明する。図8(B)は照明装置の上面図、図8(A)は図8(B)におけるe−f断面図である。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態1及び実施の形態2に記載の発光素子をその一部に含む電子機器の例について説明する。実施の形態1及び実施の形態2に記載の発光素子は発光効率が良好であり、消費電力が低減された発光素子である。その結果、本実施の形態に記載の電子機器は、消費電力が低減された発光部を有する電子機器とすることが可能である。また、実施の形態1及び実施の形態2に記載の発光素子は、駆動電圧の小さい発光素子であるため、駆動電圧の小さい電子機器とすることが可能である。
上記実施の形態で用いた有機金属錯体、ビス[2−(6−tert−ブチル−4−ピリミジニル−κN3)フェニル−κC](2,4−ペンタンジオナト−κ2O,O’)イリジウム(III)(略称:[Ir(tBuppm)2(acac)])の合成例を示す。なお、[Ir(tBuppm)2(acac)]の構造を以下に示す。
まず、4,4−ジメチル−1−フェニルペンタン−1,3−ジオン22.5gとホルムアミド50gを、還流管を付けたナスフラスコに入れ、内部を窒素置換した。この反応容器を加熱することで反応溶液を5時間還流させた。その後、この溶液を水酸化ナトリウム水溶液に注ぎ、ジクロロメタンにて有機層を抽出した。得られた有機層を水、飽和食塩水で洗浄し、硫酸マグネシウムにて乾燥させた。乾燥した後の溶液を濾過した。この溶液の溶媒を留去した後、得られた残渣を、ヘキサン:酢酸エチル=10:1(体積比)を展開溶媒とするシリカゲルカラムクロマトグラフィーで精製し、ピリミジン誘導体HtBuppmを得た(無色油状物、収率14%)。ステップ1の合成スキームを以下に示す。
次に、2−エトキシエタノール15mLと水5mL、上記ステップ1で得たHtBuppm1.49g、塩化イリジウム水和物(IrCl3・H2O)1.04gを、還流管を付けたナスフラスコに入れ、フラスコ内をアルゴン置換した。その後、マイクロ波(2.45GHz 100W)を1時間照射し、反応させた。溶媒を留去した後、得られた残渣をエタノールで吸引濾過、洗浄し、複核錯体[Ir(tBuppm)2Cl]2を得た(黄緑色粉末、収率73%)。ステップ2の合成スキームを以下に示す。
さらに、2−エトキシエタノール40mL、上記ステップ2で得た複核錯体[Ir(tBuppm)2Cl]2 1.61g、アセチルアセトン0.36g、炭酸ナトリウム1.27gを、還流管を付けたナスフラスコに入れ、フラスコ内をアルゴン置換した。その後、マイクロ波(2.45GHz 120W)を60分間照射し、反応させた。溶媒を留去し、得られた残渣をエタノールで吸引濾過し、水、エタノールで洗浄した。この固体をジクロロメタンに溶解させ、セライト(和光純薬工業株式会社、カタログ番号:531−16855)、アルミナ、セライトの順で積層した濾過補助剤を通して濾過した。溶媒を留去して得られた固体をジクロロメタンとヘキサンの混合溶媒にて再結晶することにより、目的物を黄色粉末として得た(収率68%)。ステップ3の合成スキームを以下に示す。
本参考例では、実施例で用いた有機金属イリジウム錯体、ビス{4,6−ジメチル−2−[3−(3,5−ジメチルフェニル)−5−フェニル−2−ピラジニル−κN]フェニル−κC}(2,6−ジメチル−3,5−ヘプタンジオナト−κ2O,O’’)イリジウム(III)(略称:[Ir(dmdppr−P)2(dibm)])の合成方法について説明する。なお、[Ir(dmdppr−P)2(dibm)](略称)の構造を以下に示す。
まず、2,3−ジクロロピラジン5.00gと3,5−ジメチルフェニルボロン酸10.23g、炭酸ナトリウム7.19g、ビス(トリフェニルホスフィン)パラジウム(II)ジクロリド(略称:Pd(PPh3)2Cl2)0.29g、水20mL、アセトニトリル20mLを、還流管を付けたナスフラスコに入れ、内部をアルゴン置換した。この反応容器にマイクロ波(2.45GHz 100W)を60分間照射することで加熱した。ここで更に3,5−ジメチルフェニルボロン酸2.55g、炭酸ナトリウム1.80g、Pd(PPh3)2Cl2 0.070g、水5mL、アセトニトリル5mLをフラスコに入れ、再度マイクロ波(2.45GHz 100W)を60分間照射することで加熱した。
まず、上記ステップ1で得たHdmdppr(略称)4.28gとdryTHF80mLを三口フラスコに入れ、内部を窒素置換した。フラスコを氷冷後、フェニルリチウム(1.9Mブチルエーテル溶液)9.5mLを滴下し、室温で23時間半攪拌した。反応溶液を水に注ぎ、クロロホルムで抽出した。得られた有機層を水、飽和食塩水で洗浄し、硫酸マグネシウムで乾燥した。得られた混合物に酸化マンガンを加え、30分攪拌した。その後、溶液をろ過し、溶媒を留去した。得られた残渣を、ジクロロメタンを展開溶媒とするシリカゲルカラムクロマトグラフィーで精製し、目的のピラジン誘導体Hdmdppr−P(略称)を得た(橙色オイル、収率26%)。ステップ2の合成スキームを下記(a−2)に示す。
次に、2−エトキシエタノール15mLと水5mL、上記ステップ2で得たHdmdppr−P(略称)1.40g、塩化イリジウム水和物(IrCl3・H2O)(Sigma−Aldrich社製)0.51gを、還流管を付けたナスフラスコに入れ、フラスコ内をアルゴン置換した。その後、マイクロ波(2.45GHz 100W)を1時間照射し、反応させた。溶媒を留去した後、得られた残渣をエタノールで吸引ろ過、洗浄し、複核錯体[Ir(dmdppr−P)2Cl]2(略称)を得た(赤褐色粉末、収率58%)。ステップ3の合成スキームを下記(a−3)に示す。
さらに、2−エトキシエタノール30mL、上記ステップ3で得た複核錯体[Ir(dmdppr−P)2Cl]2 0.94g、ジイソブチリルメタン(略称:Hdibm)0.23g、炭酸ナトリウム0.52gを、還流管を付けたナスフラスコに入れ、フラスコ内をアルゴン置換した。その後、マイクロ波(2.45GHz 120W)を60分間照射することで加熱した。溶媒を留去し、得られた残渣をエタノールで吸引ろ過した。得られた固体を水、エタノールで洗浄し、ジクロロメタンとエタノールの混合溶媒にて再結晶することにより、本発明の有機金属錯体[Ir(dmdppr−P)2(dibm)](略称)を暗赤色粉末として得た(収率75%)。ステップ4の合成スキームを下記(a−4)に示す。

Claims (14)
- 一対の電極間に、
第1のりん光性化合物が、第1のホスト材料に分散された第1の発光層と、
前記第1のりん光性化合物よりも長波長の発光を呈する第2のりん光性化合物が、第2のホスト材料に分散された第2の発光層と、を含み、
前記第2のりん光性化合物のε(λ)λ4で表される関数の最も長波長側に位置する極大値の波長が前記第1のりん光性化合物のりん光発光スペクトルF(λ)と重なる発光素子。
(ただし、ε(λ)は各りん光性化合物のモル吸光係数を表し、波長λの関数である。) - 請求項1において、第1の発光層はさらに、第1の有機化合物を含み、
前記第1のホスト材料と前記第1の有機化合物は励起錯体を形成し、
前記第1のりん光性化合物の発光が前記励起錯体の発光より長波長である発光素子。 - 請求項2において、前記励起錯体の発光スペクトルと、前記第1のりん光性化合物のε(λ)λ4で表される関数の最も長波長側に位置する極大値の波長とが重なる発光素子。
(ただし、ε(λ)は各りん光性化合物のモル吸光係数を表し、波長λの関数である。) - 請求項1乃至請求項3のいずれか一項において、
前記第1のりん光性化合物は、500nm乃至600nmの範囲にりん光の発光ピークを有し、
前記第2のりん光性化合物は、600nm乃至700nmの範囲にりん光の発光ピークを有する発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれか一項において、
電子と正孔の再結合領域が前記第1の発光層である発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至請求項5のいずれか一項において、
前記第1の発光層が前記第2の発光層より陽極側に位置しており、
少なくとも前記第2の発光層は正孔輸送性よりも電子輸送性が高い発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至請求項5のいずれか一項において、
前記第1の発光層が前記第2の発光層より陽極側に位置しており、
前記第1のホスト材料及び前記第2のホスト材料が共に電子輸送性を有する発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至請求項5のいずれか一項において、
前記第1の発光層が前記第2の発光層より陰極側に位置しており、
少なくとも前記第2の発光層は電子輸送性よりも正孔輸送性が高い発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至請求項5のいずれか一項において、
前記第1の発光層が前記第2の発光層より陰極側に位置しており、
前記第1のホスト材料及び前記第2のホスト材料が共に正孔輸送性を有する発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至請求項9のいずれか一項に記載の発光素子において、前記第1の発光層及び前記第2の発光層は互いに接して積層されている発光素子。
- 請求項1乃至請求項10のいずれか一に記載の発光素子を有する照明装置。
- 請求項1乃至請求項10のいずれか一に記載の発光素子と、前記発光素子を制御する手段を備えた発光装置。
- 請求項1乃至請求項10のいずれか一に記載の発光素子を表示部に有し、前記発光素子を制御する手段を備えた表示装置。
- 請求項1乃至請求項10のいずれか一に記載の発光素子を有する電子機器。
