Abstract
【解決手段】外装下ケース2aおよび外装上ケース2bからなるケース2の背面には、電池ユニット1に対して充放電のための端子3、4が設けられている。外装下ケース2aの収納スペース内に、サブモジュールAS1〜AS4が収納される。サブモジュールAS1〜AS4をビス止め等により固定するために、外装下ケース2aの底面に複数のボス9が形成されている。サブモジュールAS1〜AS4のそれぞれには、複数の電池ブロックが収納されている。サブモジュールAS1〜AS4は、予めケース2の外において組み立てられる。

Description
電源出力端子を有する主収納ケースと、
主収納ケース内に収納される少なくとも一つのサブモジュールと、
主収納ケース内に収納され、単位電池の充電および放電の少なくともいずれかを制御する制御部とを備え、
サブモジュールは、それぞれが複数の単位電池からなる電池ブロックが端子部が露出しないように、副収納ケース内に2個以上収納され、電池ブロック同士が電気的接続部材によって接続されている電池ユニットである。
以下、電池ユニットについて図面を参照して説明する。
図1〜図5は、電池ユニット1の全体の構成を示す斜視図である。主収納ケースとしての電池ユニット1の外装ケース2は、板金加工された金属製の外装下ケース2aおよび外装上ケース2bからなる。外装下ケース2aおよび外装上ケース2bの材料としては、高い熱伝導率および輻射率を有する材料を用いることが好ましい。優れた筐体放熱性を得ることができ、ケース内の温度上昇を抑制することができる。優れた筐体放熱性を有することで、ケース2の開口部を最小限または廃止することができ、高い防塵防滴性を実現することができる。例えば、外装下ケース2aおよび外装上ケース2bの材料は、アルミニウムまたはアルミニウム合金または銅または銅合金である。例えば、外装下ケース2aおよび外装上ケース2bの板厚は、約1mm以上とされる。
サブモジュールAS1〜AS4のそれぞれにおいて、電池ブロックを直列接続するために、接続用の金属板例えばバスバーが使用される。バスバーは、細長い棒状の金属である。バスバーには、電池ブロックから導出されている接続金属板等との接続のために複数の穴が形成されている。
図8、図9および図10を参照してサブモジュール例えばサブモジュールAS1について説明する。なお、サブモジュールAS2もサブモジュールAS1と同様の構成を有する。図8に示すように、モールド部品である下ケース12は、周囲に側壁31が設けられた浅い箱状のものである。下ケース12の収納部がリブによって6個の収納スペースSP1〜SP6に区画されている。
・電池ブロックの接続、組込作業を、金属製の外装ケースの外で行えるので、部品接触、落下などによるショートの危険が無く、安全に作業が可能となる。
・電池ブロックを電気的に絶縁が確保されるモールドケースに収納するサブモジュールを使用するので、金属製の外装ケース内に各サブモジュールを組込配置する場合、ショートの危険が無く、安全に作業を行うことができる。
・サブモジュールを外装ケース内に配置固定した後も、絶縁ケースによって、電池ブロックが覆われているので、振動、衝撃が加わっても、外装ケースとの絶縁が確保されるので、安全が確保される。
図13は、電池ブロックBの構成の一例を示す斜視図である。電池ブロックBは、複数例えば8個の電池21と、電池ホルダ22と、正極金属板23aと、負極金属板23bとを備え、これらの部品により電池ブロックBが組み合わされる。電池ホルダ22は、例えば、プラスチックなどの絶縁材料が挙げられる。
図14A、図14Bおよび図14Cを参照してサーミスタの取り付け構造について説明する。図14Bは、図14Aにおける部分Bを拡大して示し、図14Cは、図14Aにおける部分Cを拡大して示す。図14Cに示すように、各サブモジュール例えばサブモジュールAS1の上ケース11の上面のエッジから下方に延びるスリット状の切欠き51が形成されている。この切欠き51は、サブモジュールAS1を構成する各電池ブロック毎に1箇所(または反対側の1箇所を含めて2箇所)形成されている。切欠き51の位置は、電池ホルダ22の切欠き27と、正極金属板23aの切欠き28の位置と同一とされている。
一般的に、サブモジュール内の電池は、充放電すると発熱し、電池の性能の劣化が進行する。したがって、発熱を抑えたり、放熱をしなけばならない。さらに、電池の配置場所により、温度差が発生するため、電池間で性能のバラツキが発生する。
一般的に、サブモジュール内の電池は、低温環境(例えば0°C以下)で充電する場合、劣化が進行する。また、放電の場合は、内部抵抗が高くなってしまうため、容量が低下する。このように、低温環境では性能が十分に発揮されない問題があった。一実施の形態は、かかる低温環境下で充放電を行っても、電池の性能が損なわれることを防止するようになされている。
以上、この発明の一実施形態について具体的に説明したが、この発明は、上述の一実施形態に限定されるものではなく、この発明の技術的思想に基づく各種の変形が可能である。例えば電池ブロックにおいて、電池21の負極端子部21bが負極金属板23bによって連結しているが、負極側を電池ホルダで保持し、正極側を正極金属板23aによって連結するようにしても良い。さらに、上述の実施形態において挙げた構成、方法、形状、材料および数値などはあくまでも例に過ぎず、必要に応じてこれと異なる構成、方法、形状、材料および数値などを用いてもよい。また、上述の実施形態の各構成は、主旨を逸脱しない限り、互いに組み合わせることが可能である。

Claims (9)
- 電源出力端子を有する主収納ケースと、
前記主収納ケース内に収納される少なくとも一つのサブモジュールと、
前記主収納ケース内に収納され、前記単位電池の充電および放電の少なくともいずれかを制御する制御部とを備え、
前記サブモジュールは、それぞれが複数の単位電池からなる電池ブロックが端子部が露出しないように、副収納ケース内に2個以上収納され、前記電池ブロック同士が電気的接続部材によって接続されている電池ユニット。 - 前記サブモジュールの前記副収納ケースは、上ケースおよび下ケースに分割されている請求項1に記載の電池ユニット。
- 前記電池ブロックは、前記複数の単位電池を絶縁材からなる電池ホルダによって固定する請求項1または2に記載の電池ユニット。
- 前記電池ブロックは、前記複数の単位電池を電極接続金属板によって固定する請求項1乃至3の何れかに記載の電池ユニット。
- 前記主収納ケースの内面と前記サブモジュールとの間に、熱伝達性および衝撃吸収特性が良好な緩衝放熱部が介在される請求項1乃至4の何れかに記載の電池ユニット。
- 前記副収納ケースの上面および底面の少なくとも一方に複数の開口が形成され、前記開口のそれぞれに対して前記緩衝放熱部が配される請求項5に記載の電池ユニット。
- 前記副収納ケースに複数の孔が形成され、前記孔を通じて内部の前記単位電池の表面に温度検知素子が取り付けられる請求項1乃至5の何れかに記載の電池ユニット。
- 前記温度検知素子が熱伝達性が良好な接続部材を介して前記単位電池の表面に取り付けられる請求項7に記載の電池ユニット。
- 前記主収納ケースの底面および上面の少なくとも一方に、フラットな発熱部を配してなる請求項1乃至5および請求項7の何れかに記載の電池ユニット。
