Abstract
【解決手段】R、G、Bデータ補正部112、114、116は外部から入力されるR、G、Bそれぞれの8ビット原始画像データを、液晶特性に合うように予め決められた9ビットデータに変換した後、第1乃至第3多階調化部122、124、126に各々出力し、第1乃至第3多階調化部122、124、126はR、G、Bそれぞれの8ビット補正画像データに変換する。この結果、R、G、Bそれぞれの補正画像データに対してR、G、Bそれぞれのガンマ曲線を別途に調節することができるので階調別色感が異なって現れる問題や色温度が急変する問題を解決することができる。

Description
図6に示すとおり、R、G、B各々の曲線が一致せず、また、その間隔も一定ではないことがわかる。すなわち、暗い階調レベルになるにつれて、G成分やR成分はゼロに近く、B成分のみがゼロより大きな輝度レベルを示しているため、図3に示す通り、観察者の目にはとても青く(Bluish)見られるという問題が生じる。
一般に階調の色温度は各R、G、Bの色座標と輝度(luminance)によって決められる。従って測定されたガンマ曲線に対してR、G、B別に曲線を変動させると階調が変わってもホワイトグレーの色座標は大きな変動がない、つまり、色温度が変わらない特性を得ることができる。
図7は本発明の一実施例による色補正機能を有する液晶表示装置を説明するための図面である。
図18は本発明の第2実施例による色補正部を説明するための図面であって、特に、内部ROMに拡張データを保存する回路構成の概念図である。
図19は本発明の第3実施例による色補正部を説明するための図面であって、特に、従来のデジタルロジックを使用してデータを保存する場合である。

Claims (5)
- 第1の色及び第2の色をそれぞれ示す第1ガンマ曲線及び第2ガンマ曲線を有する液晶表示装置であり、
画像を表示する液晶表示パネルと、
色補正部と、を有し、
前記色補正部は、第1の階調値を有する前記第1の色の第1入力画像データを、第2の階調値を有する前記第1の色の第1出力画像データに変換し、
前記第1出力画像データのルミネッセンス値は、前記第1入力画像データに関して第2ガンマ曲線のルミネッセンス値と同じである、液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1の色は青または赤であり、前記第2の色は緑である、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 第1の色及び第2の色をそれぞれ示す第1ガンマ曲線及び第2ガンマ曲線を有する液晶表示装置であり、
画像を表示する液晶表示パネルと、
色補正部と、を有し、
前記色補正部は、第1の階調値を有する前記第1の色の第1入力画像データを、第2の階調値を有する前記第1の色の第1出力画像データに変換し、
前記第1出力画像データのルミネッセンス値は、前記第1入力画像データに関して仮想ガンマ曲線のルミネッセンス値と同じであり、
前記仮想ガンマ曲線は、前記第1ガンマ曲線と前記第2ガンマ曲線との間のルミネッセンス値を有している、液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1ガンマ曲線と前記第1ガンマ曲線とは、前記第1入力画像データに関して異なるルミネッセンス値を有している、請求項3に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1の色は青または赤であり、前記第2の色は緑である、請求項3に記載の液晶表示装置。
