Description
図1は、例示的な一実施形態による、最終的にインクジェット印刷装置用画像支持媒体として機能するよう構成された、例示的な画像支持媒体(100)を示している。図1に示すように、画像支持媒体(100)は、フィルム形成樹脂(110)で少なくとも片側がコーティングされている未加工原紙層(120)を備える。図1に示す例示的な実施形態によれば、未加工原紙層(120)は、未加工原紙層(120)の裏面をコーティングする第2のフィルム形成樹脂(130)を含む。画像支持媒体(100)の上記構成要素について、さらに詳細を示すこととする。
例示的な実施形態によれば、未加工原紙層の少なくとも片側に、フィルム形成樹脂をコーティングする。図2は、例示的な一実施形態による、未加工原紙層を形成し且つ未加工原紙層の少なくとも片側をフィルム形成樹脂でコーティングする例示的な一実施形態を示している。図2に示すように、インクジェット画像支持媒体(100;図1)を形成する例示的な方法は、はじめに、所望の木材パルプを約0.5〜3.0mmの加重平均繊維長にまで微細化すること(工程200)で開始する。木材パルプ繊維を所望の長さまで微細化したら(工程200)、それらは、約0.0%〜20.0%の範囲の微細物を有するスラリーを形成する。次いで、炭酸カルシウム、クレイ又は石膏等の填料;サイズ剤;及び任意の所望の添加剤を、スラリー乾燥重量で40%までを構成するように添加することができる(工程210)。例示的な一実施形態によれば、このスラリーを形成した後、それを従来の抄紙機でプロセス処理して、約80〜300g/m2の坪量を有する未加工原紙を製造することができる(工程220)。本明細書で用いるとき、「従来の抄紙機」という用語は、ハロゲン化銀の未加工原紙を形成するように設計されたものではない、任意の抄紙機、即ち、構造上ステンレス鋼ではない抄紙機を表わすものとする。未加工原紙を形成したら(工程220)、次にその表面の少なくとも片方に樹脂組成物を与え(工程230)、上記のインクジェット画像支持媒体(100;図1)を形成することができる。形成した後、このインクジェット画像支持媒体をインクジェットコーティング調合物で選択的にコーティングすることができる(工程240)。上記各工程について、詳細を以下に示す。
Claims (20)
- 画像支持媒体(100)であって:
未加工原紙(350);及び
前記未加工原紙(350)の少なくとも片面に配置されたフィルム形成樹脂(110、130)
を含んで成り、前記未加工原紙(350)が、加重平均長さ0.5〜3.0mmの繊維から形成されている、画像支持媒体。 - 前記未加工原紙(350)が、乾燥重量で約1〜40%の填料を含む、請求項1に記載の画像支持媒体。
- 前記未加工原紙(350)が、未使用硬材繊維又は未使用軟材繊維の1つをさらに含む、請求項1に記載の画像支持媒体。
- 前記未加工原紙(350)が、再生繊維をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の画像支持媒体。
- 前記フィルム形成樹脂(110、130)が、熱可塑性樹脂を含む、請求項1に記載の画像支持媒体。
- 前記未加工原紙(350)が、乾燥重量で20%未満の微細物(fine content)を含む、請求項1に記載の画像支持媒体。
- 前記未加工原紙(350)が、2未満のMD/CD比を有する、請求項1に記載の画像支持媒体。
- 前記未加工原紙(350)が、25g/m2より大きいコッブ(Cobb)試験値を有する、請求項1に記載の画像支持媒体。
- 前記未加工原紙(350)が、Tappi規格525にしたがって、95を超える輝度を示す、請求項1に記載の画像支持媒体。
- 前記未加工原紙(350)が、Tappi規格560にしたがって、少なくとも105のCIE白色度を示す、請求項1に記載の画像支持媒体。
- 前記未加工原紙(350)が、Tappi規格425にしたがって、160g/m2に対して95を超える不透明度を示す、請求項1に記載の画像支持媒体。
- 前記未加工原紙(350)が、カヤーニ構造装置(Kajaani Formation apparatus)を用いて約110〜120の、又はAmbertecベータ構造試験機を用いて約0.25〜0.6の、構造レベルを示す、請求項1に記載の画像支持媒体。
- 前記未加工原紙(350)が、Park印刷表面法(Park print surface method)を用いて約2.0〜4.0の、又はSheffield平滑度分析を用いて約20〜70のSheffield単位(SU)の平滑度レベルを示す、請求項1に記載の画像支持媒体。
- 画像支持媒体(100)であって:
未加工原紙(350);及び
前記未加工原紙(350)の少なくとも片面に配置されたフィルム形成樹脂(110、130)
を含んで成り、前記未加工原紙(350)が、乾燥重量で約1〜40%の填料を含む、画像支持媒体。 - 前記未加工原紙(350)が、重量で約5〜25%の填料を含む、請求項14に記載の画像支持媒体。
- 前記填料が、炭酸カルシウム(CaCO3)、クレイ、カオリン、石膏(硫酸カルシウム水和物)、酸化チタン(TiO2)、タルク、アルミナ三水和物又は酸化マグネシウム(MgO)のうちの1つを含む、請求項14に記載の画像支持媒体。
- 前記未加工原紙(350)が添加剤を含有し、該添加剤が、サイズ剤、乳化製品、強化剤、定着剤、pH調節剤、蛍光増白剤又は着色剤のうちの1つを含む、請求項14に記載の画像支持媒体。
- 前記未加工原紙(350)が、加重平均長さ0.6〜0.9mmの繊維から形成されている、請求項14に記載の画像支持媒体。
- 画像支持媒体(100)を形成する方法であって:
加重平均長さ0.5〜3.0mmの繊維を有する未加工原紙(350)を形成すること;及び
前記未加工原紙(350)の少なくとも片面をフィルム形成樹脂(110、130)でコーティングすること
を包含する、方法。 - 写真紙製造装置であって:
加圧ローラ(360);
フィルム形成樹脂分配機;及び
約0.25マイクロインチ〜約5マイクロインチの表面粗さを有する冷却ローラ(370)
を備える、写真紙製造装置。
