Abstract
て受けるダメージを緩和することのできる乗員保護装置
を提供する。 【解決手段】 乗員保護装置を、着座した乗員(1)を
拘束するシートベルト(肩ベルト15、脇下ベルト1
7、腰ベルト19)の両端が連結され且つ車幅方向に移
動可能にフロア(4)に支持されたシート(2)と、側
方衝突の検知時に車体中央側へシートを加速するための
エネルギ蓄積手段(ガス発生器6)と、車体中央側へ所
定距離移動した後のシートにそれまでとは逆向きの力を
加えるための制動手段(圧壊チューブ7)とを有するも
のとする。これにより、エネルギ蓄積手段に蓄えられた
エネルギの放出により、シートの加速度が衝突初期に車
体よりも早期に立ち上がる。その後、衝突中期以降のシ
ートと車体との速度(加速度)が制動手段によっていち
早く等しくされる。しかも車体側面が車室内に没入する
以前に車体中央側へシートが移動するので、乗員と車体
との間の空間が拡大される。
Description
し、特に側方衝突時の衝撃から乗員を保護するための乗
員保護装置に関するものである。
高めるために、車体の居室以外の部分(クラッシャブル
ゾーン)の衝突時の変形モードを適切に設定して車体の
居室部分の減速度を低減すると共に、居室にまで変形が
及ばないようにした車体構造が種々提案されている(特
開平7−101354号公報など参照)。
ついての衝突衝撃の吸収を行うためのクラッシャブルゾ
ーンはエンジンルームの長さで確保し得るが、側方衝突
に対する十分なクラッシャブルゾーンをドアの厚さだけ
で確保することは困難である。そこで側方衝突に対する
対策として、ドアの変形が車室内に及ばないようにする
ための補強バーをドアの内側に設けることが行われてい
る。
側方衝突対策は、ドアが車室内に没入しないようにドア
を変形し難くすることを目的としているので、車体に作
用する衝撃荷重の吸収作用はむしろ低下する傾向にあ
り、車体に作用する加速度によって乗員がドア側に移動
することを抑止する力にはなり得ない。
解消すべく案出されたものであり、その主な目的は、側
方衝突時に乗員がドアに突き当たるなどして受けるダメ
ージを緩和することのできる乗員保護装置を提供するこ
とにある。

することを特徴とする乗員保護装置を提供するものとし
た。

が一体的に設けられたシート2と、シート2を車幅方向
に移動可能に支持する左右方向スライドレール3と、フ
ロア4の上面に設置されたピストン5a、ピストンロッ
ド5b、及びシリンダ5cとからなる直線摺動アクチュ
エータ5と、直線摺動アクチュエータ5のピストン5a
に駆動力を与えるための高圧ガスを発生すべく直線摺動
アクチュエータ5のシリンダボトムに接続されたガス発
生器6と、直線摺動アクチュエータ5のピストンロッド
5bとシート2との連結部の車内側端面に所定寸法
(A)の間隔をおいて対向配置された制動用圧壊チュー
ブ7とからなっている。

ート2が動かずに初期位置を保持するように、適宜な保
持機構(図示せず)が設けられている。

を調節するためのロック機構付き前後方向スライドレー
ル8を介してフロア4の上方に設置されている。なお、
前後方向スライドレール8は、従来構造をそのまま流用
している。

示せず)に電気的に接続されている。

ロッド5cの出力端に一体結合された断面形状が凹字形
をなす把持部12とを介して相互に連結されている。

ルト15と、シートバック2bの車体中央寄りに配置さ
れた内側肩アンカー16とバックル14との間を結ぶ脇
下ベルト17と、シート2のドア側寄りに配置されたリ
トラクタ18とバックル14との間を結ぶ腰ベルト19
とからなっている。そして肩ベルト15及び腰ベルト1
9は、従来の3点式シートベルトと同様に、主に正面衝
突時の車体減速度に対して乗員1の上体を拘束する機能
を備え、脇下ベルト17は、主に側面衝突時の車体加速
度に対して乗員1の上体を拘束する機能を備える。
3乃至図5を参照して説明する。
と、衝突車両Eの運動エネルギを受けて、衝突車両Eの
進行方向Dについての加速度が車体Bに作用する(図3
参照)。この加速度を検知して閉じる接点を有する加速
度センサの作動により、ガス発生器6に内蔵された推薬
が発火し、高圧ガスを発生してピストンロッド5bを押
し出す。すると、ピストンロッド5bは、変形すること
によって衝突荷重を吸収する車体Bよりも高い加速度を
もって車体Bの中央側へと移動する。このピストンロッ
ド5bの車幅方向移動により、ピストンロッド5bに実
質的に直結されたシート2がピストンロッド5bに連れ
て車体中央側へと加速される(図4参照)。
中央側へと加速されたシート2に対し、自身の慣性力に
よって車体外側へと加速される。このため、乗員1の脇
の下に掛けられた脇下ベルト17に張力が発生し、乗員
1の上体は、脇下ベルト17によってドア側への移動が
阻止される。

ート2と共に車体中央側へ移動しつつある把持部12の
当接により、圧壊チューブ7は塑性変形を起こし、この
時発生する反力荷重によってシート2には減速度、つま
り衝突車両Eの進行方向Dとは逆向きの力が作用する
(図5参照)。
移動しつつ減速し、その移動が終了する時点に乗員1の
速度(加速度)が車体Bの速度(加速度)と一致するよ
うに、脇下ベルト17の張力特性、並びに圧壊チューブ
7の応力特性及び隙間の寸法(A)を適宜に設定すると
良い。
体中央側への移動を終了した段階では、衝突車両Eに押
されてドアやサイドシルの変形が更に進行するが、この
時点に於いて乗員1はシート2及び車体Bと一体となっ
ているので、この時に車体Bが発生する反力荷重が停止
の直前まで一定となるように車体構造を設計すれば、乗
員1の加速度を十分に低く保つことができる。しかも車
室内へのドアの変形量が増大する以前にシート2が車体
中央寄りに移動しているので、ドア内面との間隔が広く
なっており、乗員1がドアに突き当たることが原因で受
ける損傷が大幅に低減される。
しては、脇下シートベルト17によらず、図6及び図7
に示したように、乗員1の肩を側方から包み込むような
形状にシートバック2bを形成することでも良い。また
シート2に加速度を与えるためのエネルギ蓄積手段は、
上記したガス発生器6のみならず、例えばソレノイド手
段などで圧縮状態に保持されたばね手段でも良い。
トで乗員が拘束されたシートを衝突初期に衝突車両の進
行方向について加速し、衝突中期にそれを減速して早期
に車体と乗員との速度差を減少させることにより、側方
衝突時に乗員に作用する衝撃を大幅に低減することがで
きるので、車体中央寄りにシートを移動させることによ
ってドアとの空間を増大させて乗員がドアに突き当たる
ことを防止し得ることと相俟って、側方衝突時の乗員保
護効果を大幅に高める上に多大な効果を奏することがで
きる。

Claims (2)
- 【請求項1】 着座した乗員を拘束するシートベルトの
両端が連結され且つ車幅方向に移動可能にフロアに支持
されたシートと、 側方衝突の検知時に車体中央側へシートを加速するため
のエネルギ蓄積手段と、 車体中央側へ所定距離移動した後のシートにそれまでと
は逆向きの力を加えるための制動手段とを有することを
特徴とする乗員保護装置。 - 【請求項2】 前記シートは、車体の外側方への乗員の
移動を阻止する拘束手段を有することを特徴とする請求
項1に記載の乗員保護装置。
