Abstract
355,459. Oil engines. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NœRNBERG AKT.- GES., 7, Stadtbackstrasse, Augsburg, Germany. July 15, 1930, No. 21436. Convention date, Aug. 5, 1929. [Class 7 (iii).] The outlet openings of air pockets which communicate with the combustion chamber of an internalcombustion engine and the fuel nozzle are so arranged with respect to one another that the fuel jet is met by the air jets within the combustion chamber simultaneously at several points situated at different distances from the air jets. Pockets a may be formed in the piston and the fuel injected from one end of the combustion chamber as in Fig. 4 or pockets may be formed in the piston and in the roof of the combustion chamber and a central injector employed as in Fig. 9. As shown in Fig. 5 a single chamber a is employed having three outlets f for air and a partition i with a throttled opening k in the chamber, while the piston e has a cavity in the centre.
