Abstract

333,790. Krupp Germaniawerft Akt.- Ges., F. Oct. 15, 1928, [Convention date]. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel.-In an airless injection two-stroke engine a rotary motion transverse to the cylinder axis is imparted to the combustion air which enters through ports E directed towards a dished crown in the piston. Exhaust ports are located at F. The combustion head may be of the same concave form as the piston crown B or it may be tapered, as shown in plan in Fig. 6. Oppositely located fuel nozzles D, Fig. 6may be disposed on the axis of rotation of the combustion air, the orifices of each nozzle being so arranged that the opposing jets of fuel lie in different planes. Alternatively, one fuel nozzle may be located centrally in the cylinder head; in each arrangement the fuel is injected transversely to the direction of rotation of the air.
