Abstract

241,877. Maschinenfabrik Augsburg- Nurnberg Akt.-Ges. Oct. 25, 1924, [Convention date]. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel. - In an engine in which heavy oil and a light ignition oil are injected into the cylinder, and the combustion air is given a rotary motion, separate nozzles are provided for the fuels and are so arranged that the circulating air brings the ignition oil flames and the heavy oil sprays into contact with one another at themoment when the ignition flames have the greatest intensity As shown in Fig. 1, the air valve a is provided with a screen b for imparting a rotary motion to the ingoing air, which drives the ignited light oil from the nozzles e into contact with the heavy oil sprays from the nozzles c. In a modification, the ignition oil is supplied by a central nozzle having a number of outlets corresponding to the number of heavy oil nozzles.
