[Class 7 (iii ). ] In an airless oil injection engine a precombustion or ignition chamber e is disposed eccentrically to a depression b in a piston head a. The depression may be frustoconical in shape and the clearance between the piston surface c and the cylinder head is reduced to a minimum. Either the depression or the precombustion chamber is arranged concentrically with respect to the axis of the piston. Specification 322,474, [Class 7 (iii), Internal-combustion engines, Carburetting-apparatus &c. for], is referred to.
