[Class 7 (iii).] In a two-stroke cycle engine helicoidal ribs or grooves 8, 9 are formed either on a reduced part of the cylinder head 3 or on the piston or on both so as to impart a whirling motion to the air as it is forced by the piston into the combustion chamber. The combustion chamber 10 is substantially spherical in shape, and is formed between a concave part of the piston and the top of the cylinder head.
