Abstract

222,643. Gerstadt, A. Sept. 5, 1923. Variable-speed gearing suitable for machine tools &c. for vehicles comprises an epicyclic train 3<1>, 7, 5 controlled by variable friction gearing 12, 18, 11, the power not passing through the latter train. Frictional engagement is maintained by an axial thrust upon the disc 12 by the reaction of a worm pair 8, 9 allowing the planet-carrier 6 to slip away, but not driving it. A sleeve 3 extending from the gear 3<1> is journaled upon the driven spindle 1 which, is secured to the opposite gear 5. The sleeve 3 with its pulley 4 and the disc 12 are driven separately. The speed is varied by moving the roller 18 by means of a lever 20.
