Abstract

331,460. Fiat Soc. Anon. Dec. 12, 1928, [Convention date]. Addition to 324,563. Variable-speed toothed gearing.-In four-speed gearing for automobiles of the kind described in the parent Specification, employing double eccentric gearing 6, 7, 9, 10 in one plane, the C-ring carrying the teeth 7, 9 is formed in two parts 8<a>, 8<b> interconnected by screws 8e, and the ring is supported on bearings 15<a>, 15<b> on the support-ring 14, which is continuous and is gripped between parts 1, 1<a> of the casing. The driving-shaft 2 is carried in a. bearing 17 in the ring 14 and in bearings 23, 24 in the drum extension 20 of the driven shaft 22. The lay-shaft 3 is driven by helical gearing 4, 5 from the final member 11 of the eccentric train and carries rigidly mounted wheels 29, 27 for alternative engagement with the wheels 30, 28, slidable on splines on the drum 20. As in the parent Specification, a clutch sleeve 19 splined to the drum 20 engages with a sleeve 18 secured to the shaft 2 for solid drive and with the member 11 for third speed, first and second speeds being provided.by the gearing 27 - - 30. End thrust on the lay shaft 3 is taken by a bearing 34. A worm speedometer-drive 27, 38 is taken from the shaft 22. The casing has a removable cover (not shown).
