329,609. Fiat Soc. Anon. Nov. 24, 1928, [Convention date]. Addition to 324,563. Variable-speed gearing. - Comprises minor improvements in the four-speed gearing for automobiles of the parent Specification which was characterized by an eccentric train 6, 7, 9, 10 in one plane supported on a fixed eccentric ring 14 projecting into that plane. Different arrangements of clutch and supporting sleeves and of bearings are described. In the arrangement shown, the first gear 5 on countershaft 3 instead of being driven directly from a separater pinion on the driving-shaft 2 is driven from the eccentrically-supported gear 9, thus giving a speed reduction to the countershaft drives.
