367,079. Change-speed and reversing gearing" IMPROVED GEARS, Ltd. and WILSON, W. G., 23, Queen Anne's Gate, London. Dec. 8, 1930, No. 37018. [Class 80 (ii).] Two-speed and reversing epicyclic gearing suitable for propelling motor boats comprises two trains h, k side by side, the former yielding the reverse and the latter the two forward speeds. A wheel boss e fast on a driving sleeve a carries rigidly the sun gear g of train h and the annulus f of train k. An enclosing member n forms the annulus m of train h, carries a cone clutch surface t, forms the carrier o of the planets p of train k, and is connected by a web u and sleeve v to the driven shaft c. The planets l of train h and the sun gear x of train k are carried by loose drums r, y, respectively. Solid driving is effected by sliding drum y to the left into engagement at t with the member n, by suitable means not shown. Reduced forward speed is effected by holding drum y by a brake 10. Reversal is effected by holding drum r by a brake s.
