Abstract

1348821 Heat insulating framing members; metal building frameworks E NIPP 19 April 1971 [6 March 1970 27 July 1970] 22678/71 Headings E1J E1K E1R and E1W Relatively hard resilient plastics integral members 6 are used in strip form as a heat insulating connecting device to or between metal or steel load bearing structural members 1, 2. The connecting members 6 are resiliently clipped to the structural members and then cavities in the connecting members are filled with a settable material e.g. expanded polyurethane. When the filler material 9 has set a permanent load bearing, heat insulating joint has been formed. The structural members may comprise box girders and may be load bearing steel beams or columns. A steel beam or column may be similarly connected to metal cladding panels on the outside of a building or metal framework. The joint may be used as part of a composite window frame.
