Abstract

1,089,738. Window &c. frames. LE CHASSIS METALLIQUE BELGE CHAMEBEL S.A. Dec. 2, 1965 [Dec. 4, 1964], No.51238/65. Heading E1J. In a process for producing building members, e.g. mullions or transoms for screens, windows or door frames, metal elements 1; 2 are connected in spaced relation by non- metallic panels 3, 3' of low thermal conductivity to form a tubular cavity and polymerisable liquid transformable into a rigid foam material is injected into the cavity to fill it. The elements 1, 2 and panels 3, 3' interengage by means of flanges 5, 5' and 16, 16', 26, 26' and grooves on the panels 3, 3' and elements 1, 2. The panels 3, 3' may be thermosetting synthetic plastics material reinforced with for example glass fibre. Packing blocks 7 are utilised for assembling purposes and may be rigid or resilient.
