Abstract

1,177,367. Transparent building elements. BAUKO WOLF & CO. G.m.b.H. 6 April, 1967 [21 May, 1966], No. 15842/67. Heading E1B. A light transmitting unit comprises a number of elements 5a, each having rib or groove means 10a, 12a, in its end faces, slotted into a framework 1a of metal strips 2a interconnected by slots 3a, tabs 7a and 8a being pressed out of the strip surfaces to locate the elements. In another embodiment each element has an individual frame, the frames are welded or rivetted together to form a unit and reinforcing rods are incorporated in spaces between the frames. In another embodiment a number of elements are assembled together within an outer frame and reinforcing rods are positioned in spaces formed between the blocks. The units are sealed by a plastics sealing compound moulded between the elements or between the frames or between the framing members and the elements, a making means comprising an insulating foil layer, an intermediate foam plastics layer and a wood back up layer being used in the moulding.
