技术领域
本发明涉及高速、摄影质量打印机。具体地,本发明涉及从一摞打印介质中分离一张打印介质的方法,所述打印介质是多孔的。
背景技术
申请人已开发出多种不同的提供高速、摄影质量打印的打印头。打印头包括排列为一阵列的喷墨喷嘴。所述喷墨喷嘴使用微电子机械系统(MEMS)技术形成。使用该MEMS技术能够获得非常高速的打印性能,其中可以每秒两页的速率进行打印(对于双面打印)。
为便于该高速打印,首先,重要的是进送给该打印机的打印台的纸张被精确地对齐,且能够在尽可能少量出现卡纸或者类似的情况下获得期望的进给速率。其次,该纸张必须能够被以足以能够充分使用该打印台的高速打印能力的速率送进至该打印台。
发明内容
根据本发明,提供一种从一摞打印介质中分离一张打印介质的方法,所述打印介质是多孔的,且该方法包括:
将流体吹到该摞打印介质的最顶层的顶面,以便该流体至少穿过该摞打印介质的最顶层的介质;以及
捕获该最顶层介质的一部分以将其运送至打印机的打印台。
本方法可以包括使该流体穿过一打印介质进给装置的拾取装置的孔装置被吹至该最顶层介质的顶面。该拾取装置可以为拾取棒的形式。该拾取棒的孔装置可以为多种形式中的任何一种。例如,该孔装置可以是沿该棒纵向延伸的通道。而该棒可以支持多个纵向彼此隔开的、分离的开口,所述开口限定该孔装置。
本方法包括,最初,在捕获所述最顶层介质的至少一部分之前,将所述最顶层介质的至少一部分从该摞介质提起。该方法包括通过在该拾取装置的表面和该打印介质的最顶层介质的顶面之间产生低的压力区来提起所述该最顶层介质的至少一部分。
优选的,该方法包括使该拾取装置关于该打印介质的最顶层介质的顶面具有一定的间隔,以产生低压力区。
该方法可包括由该拾取装置优选地通过使流经该拾取装置的流体的方向反向以使吹送作用改为吸入作用,来捕获该打印介质的最顶层介质的至少一部分。

具体实施例
首先参考图1,其中示出打印机的一部分,通常其以参考标号10来标识。打印机10为一高速打印机,其以大约每秒一张或每秒两页(即一张的两页)的速度打印打印介质的两面。在此情况下,打印介质为一摞纸张的形式。为便于说明,以下将参考为一摞A4打印纸的打印介质,具体的,为具有预定孔隙率程度的纸张来对本发明加以描述。
打印机10使用在打印台13处设置的一对相对的页宽打印头12来在纸张的两面进行打印,所述纸张通过打印台13送进。每个打印头12为MEMS芯片的形式,具有喷墨喷嘴阵列来获得所期望的高速、摄影质量的打印。
打印台13包括一组初级滚轮14,包括驱动滚轮16和从动滚轮18,设置在打印头12的上游以将一纸张传送至打印头12。第二组滚轮20,包括第一滚轮22和第二滚轮24,设置在打印头12和该组初级滚轮14之间。一纸张偏转装置26设置在滚轮组14和20之间。
如图2更清晰的表示,打印介质,如上所述,被排成一摞28。该摞纸张28被容纳在打印机10的一个容纳箱(未示出)中,且被保持在一适合的机盒中(也未示出)紧靠该打印机10的金属隔板30。电磁驱动的轻扣机构32,轻击该摞纸张28以确保该摞纸张28保持为与金属隔板30精确邻接,以便当将纸张进给至该打印台13时(以下将对其详细描述)调整从该摞纸张28提起的纸张以使其与该打印头12对齐。换句话说,该轻扣机构32防止从该摞纸张28提起的纸张偏斜。
打印机10包括一纸张进给装置34,用于将一张纸从该摞纸28进给至该组初级滚轮14的滚轮16和18,以便可将该纸张传送至打印台13进行打印。
进给装置34包括一枢轴棒或枢轴36,其被形式为步进电机38的驱动装置可旋转地驱动。在该轴36的每一端设有一个摇动臂40。
纸张进给装置34包括一拾取棒42,其与一流体软管44连接。该拾取棒42可绕枢轴旋转地连接于摇动臂40。臂46,具有一分叉端(未示出)从该棒42的一端突出。该臂46可滑动地容纳在形式为枢轴块48的套筒中。该臂46,及具体地,其分叉端与光检测器50配合以确定何时该拾取棒42位于其原位置,在图4中示意性示出该拾取棒42的原位置。
如上所述,打印机10为一高速打印机,其能够以每秒一张的速度进行打印。为利用该能力,重要的是以精确、受控的方式一张一张单独地将纸张从该摞纸28进送给该打印台13。因此,有必要由拾取棒组件34来精确地从该摞纸28中分离一张纸以将其传送至打印台13。为将最上层的一张纸28.1从该摞纸(28)分离,该流体软管44被连接至一流体源(未示出)。沿图4所示箭头52的方向沿软管44向下吹送空气。如箭头56所示,空气从拾取棒42的出口54出来。所述空气在拾取棒42的底部58和该摞纸张28的顶层纸张28.1之间受到压力。
本发明特别用于多孔的打印介质,例如80gsm的纸张。
由于该纸张的多孔性,也可驱动空气使其穿过最顶层28.1并冲击该摞纸28从上数的第二张纸,如由图5的箭头60所示。这造成最顶层张纸28.1与该摞纸28的其余纸张初始分离。
而且,在该拾取棒42的底部部分58的外部和该摞纸28的顶层28.1之间产生的局部的低压造成最顶层纸张28.1被吸引至该拾取棒42,如图6所示。穿过最顶层纸张28.1的空气通道有助于该最顶层纸张28.1与该摞纸28的其余纸张的分离。
一旦纸张28.1被提起脱离该摞纸28并被输送至距离该摞纸28一段短的距离,且当该拾取棒42关于该摞纸28到达一预定高度时,气流的方向被反转以便在该拾取棒42的孔54处获得吸入效应,如图7中箭头62所示。
当纸张进给装置34的摇动臂40继续沿箭头64(图3)的方向旋转时,该拾取臂42沿箭头66(图7)的方向移动以便将该摞纸28的最顶层纸张28.1的前边缘送进该组主驱动滚轮14的滚轮16和18之间。然后切断软管44中的吸入,以使该纸张28.1从该拾取棒42释放,以由该组滚轮14和20将其向前运送至打印台13用于打印。
将会理解与该摞纸28的最顶层纸张28.1的表面平行的气流产生一低摩擦垫,其便于纸张28.1相对于拾取棒42的平移运动。这允许通过任何适当的方法使该纸张28.1沿垂直于该拾取棒42的表面的方向移动,而不会妨碍该拾取棒42的拾取操作。其还有助于在将该纸张28.1进送给该组滚轮14时,使该纸张28.1的尾部保持相对于该摞纸28间隔一段距离。
申请人已发现气流沿初始“吹送”方向穿过软管的速度并不重要,拾取棒42和该摞纸28的最顶层纸张28.1之间的间隔也并不重要。此外,假如该摞纸中的纸张具有一顶程度的多孔性,则该摞纸的重量或等级也不重要。
典型的,当向该摞纸张28吹送空气时,软管14中存在大约5kPa的压力。以大约11/s的速度供应空气,且该空气以大约1kPa的压力、大约50m/s的速度离开该拾取臂42的底部部分58和最顶层纸张28.1之间的空隙。实验上,该拾取臂42被保持在该摞纸28上的大约0.1mm和0.2mm之间的间隔处,以拾取该最顶层纸张28.1,已发现这样做是成功的。此外,已使用该纸张送进装置34与纸张一起工作,该纸张的等级从40gsm纸张到高分辨率、摄影质量喷墨纸张。
拾取棒42的孔54也可以是任何适当的形式。例如。该孔54可以是沿该拾取棒42的长度延伸的直线通道或弯曲通道。或者,该孔可以包括沿该拾取棒42的长度以间隔距离排列的多个分离的开口。
申请人意外发现,通过将空气吹送至该摞纸28上,可便于实现纸张的分离。这与人的直觉完全相反,因为人们会预期吸入型机构的操作会更好。然而,假设该摞纸28是多孔的,则可很好地实现将最顶层纸张从该摞纸28分离。
所属领域普通技术人员将会理解,在不脱离如上广泛描述的本发明的精神或范围的情况下,可以如在具体实施例中所述对本发明进行多种变化和/或修改。因此,这些实施例在所有方面都应被认为是示例性的,而非限制性的。
Claims (8)
1、一种从一摞打印介质分离一张打印介质的方法,所述打印介质是多孔的且该方法包括以下步骤:
将流体吹送至该摞打印介质的最顶层的顶面上,以便该流体至少穿过该摞介质的最顶层介质;以及
获取该最顶层介质的至少一部分,用于将其传送至打印机的打印台。
2、根据权利要求1的方法,其包括使该流体穿过一打印介质进给装置的拾取装置的孔装置吹送至该最顶层介质的顶面。
3、根据权利要求2的方法,其包括在获取该最顶层介质的上述至少一部分之前,将上述最顶层介质的至少一部分从该摞介质提起。
4、根据权利要求3的方法,其包括通过在该拾取装置的表面和打印介质的最顶层介质的顶面之间创建一低的压力区来促成所述最顶层介质的至少一部分的提起。
5、根据权利要求4所述的方法,其包括使所述拾取装置保持与打印介质的最顶层纸张的顶面间隔一段距离,以便产生所述的低压力区。
6、根据权利要求2所述的方法,其包括通过所述拾取装置来获取该最顶层打印介质的至少一部分。
