背景技术
典型的光纤通信系统和网络包括一或多个电信数据中心，所述电信数据中心提供将各种类型网络设备连结起来的大量光缆和电缆连接件。典型系统还包括了将系统延伸到网络中的多个外围站点。网络设备实例包括供电(有源)单元，例如光线终端(OTL)、光学网络终端(ONT)、网络接口设备(NID)、服务器、分路器、合路器、多路复用器、开关和布线器、扇出盒及插线面板。这种网络设备常常安装在标准大小设备机架中的机柜内。每件设备通常提供一或多个适配器，在适配器中，光学插线电缆或电插线电缆(“跨接电缆”)可物理连接到设备。这些插线电缆通常铺线到位于同一机柜或另一机柜中的另一网络设备。

发明内容

具体实施方式
本文所描述的实施方式通常涉及高密度多光纤适配器外壳，所述外壳用来接收和容纳多个多光纤连接器(基于MTP的连接性)以建立和维持与所述外壳的连接。紧凑包装的适配器阵列或集提供单独连接器-适配器-连接器位置，所述位置提供适于安装在设备机架的2U空间中的外壳结构中的相对高密度连接器/适配器对，这将在下文中更详细地描述。

现参考图3，示出适配器34分组80。如图可见，适配器34可随竖直定向导槽68和70(图2)的长轴竖直定向。这种竖直定向可有利于促成U空间内的适配器34的高密度。在所示实施方式中，适配器34与彼此面对的相邻的适配器34的第一主壁62和第二主壁64并排对齐。因此，分组80被定向成使得适配器34的第一短侧侧壁5和第二短侧侧壁60(例如)在分组80的顶部或底部处于竖直位置。以此方式定向分组80中的适配器34促进在外壳结构12的内部18中呈一宽度的最多数目的适配器34的对齐。在一些实施方式中，分组80中的相邻的适配器34可以(例如)通过焊接或粘合剂而连接在一起。在其他实施方式中，分组80的适配器34可以(例如)通过模制工艺来一起形成为整合分组。如图可见，分组80中的适配器34各自提供连接器-适配器-连接器位置50，其中连接器46和48连接在一起。在所示实例中，分组80包括十个适配器34以及十个对应连接器-适配器-连接器位置50。在其他实施方式中，所述分组80可以包括约两个适配器34至约40个适配器34。在一些实施方式中，多于40个适配器34可用于分组中，例如，这取决于外壳结构12(图1)宽度。
参考图4，单独示出可延伸的搁板30(图1)中的一个。在此实施方式中，搁板30包括单独的适配器34的分组80的单个适配器行32。搁板30可容纳的分组80数目是取决于(例如)每个分组80的适配器34的数目和外壳结构12的宽度。在所示实施方式中，对于适于安装在17.75英寸宽的2-U空间中的外壳，搁板30可容纳四个分组80，每个分组80包括十个单独的适配器34。如上文所述，每个适配器34提供连接器-适配器-连接器位置50。因此，搁板30支撑40个或更多，诸如可连接连接器46和48的40个连接器-适配器-连接器位置50。
可延伸的搁板30可包括用于连接分组80并且布线电缆42和72的任何种类的连接器和布线器。例如，可延伸的搁板30可包括延伸部件90，所述延伸部件包括布线导件92，所述布线导件92设置在延伸部件90上来为连接到适配器34的电缆72以和电缆42提供布线。还参考图1，可延伸的搁板30也可包含搁板轨道94。所述搁板轨道94可配置成接收在搁板导件96中，所述搁板导件设置于外壳结构12中，以保留并允许可延伸的搁板30和设置在其上的适配器34来移入和移出外壳结构12。可延伸的搁板30可通过在搁板导件96内移动的搁板轨道94来移入和移出外壳结构12。以此方式，可延伸的搁板30可为在外壳结构12中的搁板导件96内独立可移动的。搁板导件96可设置于可延伸的搁板30的左侧末端100和右侧末端102两者。搁板导件96可在外壳结构12中相对安装并彼此面对，以便提供接收在其中的可延伸的搁板30的搁板轨道94的互补搁板导件96。如果需要接取特定可延伸的搁板30和/或特定适配器34，那么可向前拉动所需可延伸的搁板30的拉片106，以使可延伸的搁板30从外壳结构12向前延伸出。当接取完成后，可将可延伸的搁板30推回到外壳结构12中，其中搁板轨道94在设置于外壳结构12中的搁板导件96内移动。
现参考图5，示出适配器122组120的示意性表示。如上所述，适配器122组120提供用于连接MTP连接器的连接器-适配器-连接器位置124。适配器的组120具有宽度W(例如，约15英寸)和高度H(约3英寸)，所述组的大小经设定以配合在2-U空间内。适配器122组120由单独的适配器122的多个行126、128、130、132和134形成。在这个实施方式中，每个行126、128、130、132和134包括相同数目的单独的适配器122，例如40个或更多。在其他实施方式中，行126、128、130、132和134中的某些可包括不同数目的适配器122。在图5的组120中，存在五个行126、128、130、132和134，这些行适于针对2-U空间中的总计200个适配器每行具有40个适配器。对于包括12个光纤的MTP型连接器，可存在进入或离开适配器外壳10(图1)的2400个光纤对或4800个光纤。

Claims (15)

矩形、盒状外壳结构，所述矩形、盒状外壳结构具有相对侧壁以及背壁，适于安装在设备机架中的2-U空间中，其中所述外壳结构具有不大于约17.75英寸的宽度以及不大于约3.50英寸的高度；以及
适配器组，所述适配器组包括具有多个适配器的至少一个分组，其中每一个适配器被配置成接收两个多光纤连接器，并且其中每一个适配器与彼此面对的相邻的适配器的长侧侧壁在所述分组中并排对齐，所述适配器组包括至少200个适配器的单独连接器-适配器-连接器位置，所述单独连接器-适配器-连接器位置被配置成在所述外壳结构内接收多达2400个连接器对。
2.根据权利要求1所述的适配器外壳，其特征在于，所述单独连接器-适配器-连接器位置被配置成接收MTP型连接器。
