Additional patent to main patent no. 298511. Process for the production of a metal-containing azo dye. It has been found that a new, valuable, metal-containing azo dye is obtained if one uses the monoazo dye of the formula
EMI0001.0005
chromium releasing agents. like that. Let it act, (let a chromium-containing azo dye arise, which contains two monoazo dye molecules bound to a chromium atom in a complex.
A new dye forms a brown-red powder that dissolves in water with an orange-red color and dyes wool from neutral to acidic baths in red tones.
The one used as the starting material; the above formula corresponding monoazo dye 5toff can by coupling the 1- (2'-ethyl-plrenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyra7olons with methods known per se, z. B. by means of hydrochloric acid and sodium nitrite diazotized 4-chloro-2-amino-l-oxybenzene-5-sulfonic acid amide Herge provides. The 1- (2'-: 2thylphenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyraro1on used here can be obtained by methods known per se, e.g.
B. by reducing diazotized o-ethylaniline and converting the 2-ethylphenylhydrazine obtained with acetoacetic acid amide or acetoacetic acid esters to give the desired pyrazolone Dye is created that contains two monoazo dye molecules bound to an atom of chromium in a complex.
Accordingly, the chromizing is expediently carried out with such chromium-releasing agents and by methods which, experience has shown, provide complex chromium compounds of this composition. It is generally advisable to use less than one atom of chromium for a molecule of a dye and / or to carry out the chromation in a weakly acidic to alkaline medium. Accordingly, those chromium compounds that are stable in alkaline Me are particularly well suited for carrying out the process, such as.
B. such chromium compounds aliphatiseher oxycarboxylic acids or preferably aromatic o-oxycarboric acids, which contain the chromium in a complex bond. The metallization takes place with advantage in the heat, open or under pressure, z. B. at Siedetempe temperature of the reaction mixture, optionally in the presence of suitable additives, for. B. in the presence of salts of organic acids, bases, organic solvents or other means promoting complex formation.
Example: 22.3 parts of 4-chloro-2-amino-1-oxybenzene-5-sulfonic acid amide are dissolved in 50 parts of water and 14 parts of 30% hydrochloric acid and at 0 to 5 with. an aqueous solution of 6.9 parts of sodium nitrite diaäotiert. With.
N atrium carbonate-neutralized diazo suspension is at 10 to 12 in a solution of 19.2 parts of 1- (2'-r @thylphenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 50 parts of water and 14 , 0 parts of 30% sodium hydroxide solution poured in. The coupling is very quick. The dye is completely removed by adding sodium chloride.
The dye paste obtained by filtering off is stirred in 250 parts of water and finite. 120 parts of a solution of chromium salicylic acid / potassium with a chromium content of 2.6% and 6.7 parts of 30% sodium hydroxide solution were added. The whole is refluxed for 3 hours.
After this time, the chroming is finished. The chromium-containing dye is isolated by evaporating the reaction mixture in vacuo.
