Additional patent to the main patent No. 304040. Process for the production of an azo dye. It was found that this leads to a new, valuable, metal-containing azo dye
EMI0001.0004
lets chromium-releasing agent act in such a way that a chromium-containing azo dye is formed which contains two monoazo dye molecules bound to a chromium atom in a complex.
The new dye forms a dark powder which dissolves in water with a blue-gray color and dyes wool from weakly alkaline, neutral to acetic acid baths in blue-gray tones.
The monoazo dye used as starting material and corresponding to the above formula can be prepared by coupling the 1-oxynaphthlialine-3,6-di - (sulfonic acid methylamide) using methods known per se, eg. B. by means of hydrochloric acid and sodium nitrite, diazotized 4-amino-3-oxy-1, l .'-diphenylsulfone can be produced.
The treatment with the chromium-releasing agents takes place, as already mentioned, in such a way that a chromium-containing dye is created which contains two monoazo dye molecules bound to one atom of chromium in a complex. when one arrives at the monoazo dye of the formula Accordingly, the chromation is expediently carried out with such chromium-releasing agents and by methods which, experience has shown, give complex Chromver twists of this composition.
It is generally advisable to use less than one, but at least half an atom of chromium per molecule of a dye and / or to carry out the chromation in a weakly acidic to alkaline medium. Accordingly, those chromium compounds that are stable in alkaline Me are particularly well suited for carrying out the process, such as. B. those chromium compounds of aliphatic oxycarboxylic acids or preferably aromatic o-oxycarboxylic acids which contain the chromium in complex bonds.
The chrome plating takes place with advantage in the heat, open or under pressure, z. B. at Siedetem temperature of the reaction mixture, if appropriate in the presence of suitable additives, for. B. in the presence of salts of organic Säu ren, bases, organic solvents or other complex formation promote the agents.
Example: 59 parts of the dye from diazotized 3-amino-4-oxy-1,1'-diphenylsulfone and 1-oxynaphthalene-3,6-di- (sulfonic acid methylamide) are stirred in 250 parts of water and mixed with 120 parts of a solution of chromsalicylic acid sodium-potassium with a chromium content of 2.6% and 6,
7 parts of 30% sodium hydroxide solution are added. The whole is refluxed for 3 hours. After this time, the chroming is finished. The chromium-containing dye is isolated by evaporating the reaction mixture in vacuo.
