Additional patent to main patent no. 303663. Process for the production of a metal-containing azo dye. It has been found that a new, valuable, metal-containing azo dye is obtained by using the monoazo dye of the formula.
EMI0001.0010
Earning agent can act in such a way that a chromium-containing azo dye is formed which contains two monoazo dye molecules bound to a chromium atom in a complex.
The new dye forms a brownish-red powder that dissolves in water with an orange-red color and dyes wool from neutral to acidic baths in scarlet shades.
Serving as the starting material, the above formula corresponding monoazo dye can by Kupphmg of 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone with methods known per se, z. B. using hydrochloric acid and sodium nitrite, diazotized 2 - amino -1-oxyben- zene-5-methylsulfone can be produced.
The treatment with the chromium-releasing agents takes place, as already mentioned, in such a way that a chromium-containing dye is created which contains two monoazo dye molecules bound to one atom of chromium in a complex. Accordingly, the chromium plating is expediently carried out with such chromium-releasing agents and by methods which, according to experience, provide complex chromium compounds of this composition. It is generally advisable to use less than one, but at least half an atom of chromium on a molecule of a dye and / or to carry out the chromating in a weakly acidic to alkaline medium.
Demzu follow are those Chromverbindun conditions that are stable in an alkaline medium, particularly well suited for carrying out the process, such. B. such chromium compounds of aliphatic oxycarboxylic acids or preferably aromatic o-oxycarboxylic acids, which contain the chromium in complex binding. The chromizing is done with advantage in the heat, open or under pressure, z. B. tion mixture at the boiling point of the reac, optionally in the presence of suitable additives, for.
B. in the presence of salts of organic acids, bases, organic solvents or other agents promoting complex formation.
Example: 18.7 parts of 2-amino-1-oxybenzene-5-methylsulfone are suspended in 400 parts of water and mixed with 22 parts of 30% hydrochloric acid at 0-5 with an aqueous solution diazotized by 6.9 parts of sodium nitrite. The diazo solution neutralized with sodium carbonate is poured at 10-12 into a solution of 1.7.4 parts of 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 50 parts of water and 14.0 parts of 30% sodium hydroxide solution.
The coupling is very quick. The dye is completely deposited by adding sodium chloride. The pulp paste obtained by filtering off is stirred into 1000 parts of water and mixed with 120 parts of a solution of chromium salicylic acid sodium / potassium with a chromium content of 2.6% and 26,
7 parts of 30% sodium hydroxide solution are added. The whole is refluxed for 3 hours. After this time the chrome ring is finished. The chromium-containing dye is isolated by evaporating the reaction mixture in vacuo.
