Process for the preparation of a monoazo dye of the pyrazolone series. It was found that you can become one. valuable llonoazo dye is obtained when 1- (3'-Clilor) -phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone with a diazo compound of the amine of the formula
EMI0001.0006
united.
The new dye forms a yellow powder, which can be seen in dilute sodium carbonate solution with yellow, in concentrated pure sulfuric acid. greenish yellow color dissolves and dyes wool from acetic acid bath in yellow tones, which turn into a very real brownish yellow after chrome plating. The dye is also particularly suitable for dyeing using the single-bath chromating process, which also gives very real brownish yellow tones.
The diazotization of the 2-aminobenzene-5-sulphonsäureplienyiester-1,2'-dicarboxylic acid can be carried out by methods known per se, advantageously by the so-called indirect method, that is, by using a solution containing an alkali metal salt as diazotism - dicarboxylic acid serving as a component and the required amount of nitrite. contains, combined with an excess of the theoretically required amount of acid, in particular hydrochloric acid-containing, dilute acid solution.
In the present process, the coupling is advantageously carried out in an alkaline medium. B. go so before that the pyrazolone serving as the coupling component with. dissolves the required amount of alkali metal hydroxide and adds the alkali metal excess required for the coupling reaction in the form of an alkali metal carbonate. Optionally, the coupling can also be carried out with the addition of neutral or basic solvents such as. B. alcohol, pyridine, _Uhanolainin, etc. take place.
Example: 33.7 parts of 2-aniinolienzol-5-sulfonic acid plienyl ester-1,2'-dicarboxylic acid are dissolved in 400 parts of water and 8 parts of sodium hydroxide. 6.9 parts of sodium nitrite are added to the solution and then it is slowly added dropwise at 5 to 8 parts by volume into 100 parts by volume of 5N hydrochloric acid.
Sufficient sodium carbonate is added to the suspension of the diazo compound so that only a weak Congo acidic reaction is present and the whole thing at 5 to 10 to a solution of 20.9 parts of 1- (3'-chloro) -phenyl-3-methyl-5 -pyrazolon in 500 parts of water and 25 parts of sodium carbonate. The mixture is stirred until the diazo reaction disappears at 8 to 10, the dye is completely separated off by adding sodium chloride, filtered and dried.
The here serving as starting material 2-aminobenzene-5-sulfonsäurepheny lester -1,2'- di- earboxylic acid can z. B. be prepared as follows 156.5 parts of 2-chlorobenzene-1-carboxylic acid are slowly stirred at room temperature in 350,
Carry 0 parts of chlorosulfonic acid and the mixture is heated to 95 to 100 for 4 hours. The solution thus obtained is then poured onto 1500 parts of ice with stirring and the resulting white precipitate of 2-chlorobenzene-5-sulfonyl chloride-1-carboxylic acid is suction filtered and washed out with ice water.
The 2-chlorobenzene-5-sulfonic acid chloride-1-carboxylic acid obtained in this way is suspended in 1000 parts of ice water, and 138.0 parts of 1-oxybenzene-2-carboxylic acid are added. 30% sodium hydroxide solution is slowly added dropwise to this suspension with vigorous stirring until the reaction is weak but remains alkaline with phenolphthalein.
The temperature rises to 35. - Let stir for a few hours at 35 to 20. The resulting solution is then acidified with concentrated hydrochloric acid, the product which precipitates out is filtered and washed out with water. The dried product is treated with 600 parts by volume of 24% ammonia and 4 parts of copper powder for 2 hours at 125 to 130 "in an autoclave.
The resulting brownish colored solution is acidified with hydrochloric acid, the product which has precipitated is filtered with water from 2, washed out and dried.
